So... being in California for the past 4 years isolates you from the rest of the world. Now that my company is for the most part closing and I am coming back home... what did I miss? In the past 4 years, what is the biggest change!?

URBAN FUCKING MEYER
Well if you come to Columbus you will notce a ton of construction. On campus, on the roads, and downtown. It's everywhere. Urban Meyer is our coach but I'm sure you knew that already. :)

Columbus is the road construction capital of the world. Always has been, and I'm afraid it always will be. Its glorious how they like to do major road construction on every majory road into and out of downtown all at the same time!

I'm dreading the 315/23 interchange work when they start that.
It will wind up taking 5 years and will be worse than it is now.
The Clippers have a great new stadium downtown. Very cool.
all the local news anchors are different... its weird.

I miss Andrea. Swoon...
I'm pretty jealous of you. I remember that awesome feeling I had when I knew I was headed home back to Ohio from North Carolina. I couldn't wait to put that place in my rearview mirror and get home where I belong.....I'm not into country music but there should definitly be a song written about coming back home to Ohio.

I'm currently stuck in NC and wanting desperately to head north...pretending that you're me from the future is kind of comforting.
NC is not that bad. Lacks a bit of personality but its not bad at all.
Yeah it's a decent place...just not home. I drove to cbus for the Illinois game...no matter where you move to, home never changes.
I should have specified.....I lived in Durham,NC. I'd rather gargle with Elmer's Glue than go back to that waste of space junk yard twilight zone fun vacuum!!!

Durham blows, as does Greensboro. The rest of NC is quite nice. Charlotte, Raleigh, Wilmington, Asheville, Boone and Pinehurst/Southern Pines are all great places to live. Plus any state that has both mountains and beaches is alright in my book. I'll be headed in the opposite direction tomorrow, C-bus back to Pinehurst.
In my mind, one of the biggest changes in Ohio within the past 4 years has been firearm laws.
The whole triangle area is not bad at all. Durham has some problems and isn't all that nice, but is has considerable upside and they're working on reaching the potential. It's so research and education driven that it seems to lack a bit of personality and culture to me. Most people in the area are transplants and temporary residents at that.

The first line is just for you.
Also, anyone know why I always get an error when trying to embed video from YouTube using the Embed Media button above?
when i pasted mine into the text box it just shows up as "embed media" and then when i submitted it was an empty box... after reloading the page it showed up have you tried that?

I was getting the error when using the "Preview" button. Never tried to just post it. Thanks, I'll try it.
I actually LOVE living in Carpinteria, CA. Small town, driving distance to Santa Barbara, can run at lunch along the bluffs and the ocean, soccer at lunch with coworkers, beach with kids, no LA ;)
But ALL our family is in Ohio, tough to have kids bond with family if they aren't around.
Here is the view from my office window:

Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
Hahahahahaha!

I've only seen snow when I have come home for Christmas the past few years and maybe when the mountains got a wisp of it on some odd days. I hate the cold... never liked it. Carpinteria is the most beautiful places in America (or top 3-5).
Couldn't have put it any better myself.

the new hilton in downtown cbus opened up - that whole area is quality stuff now.
german village is still sweet. that's all i got

I am going to be in Northwest Ohio and then look to buy a house somewhere close to family in the summer. Zero chance I ever bought more than a mobile home out here...
UM still sucks! Nothing new there.
Lima is still the only real resort/vacation/destination city in Ohio.

And what exactly is in Lima? I've never been to that part of Ohio!

Hmmmm... Chuck E Cheeses, uhhhhhh Regal Cinemas, and ummmmmm Chipotle. Yeah, its a pretty crazy place.
Obviously someone hasn't vacationed in Piqua/"little South Beach"/"little Las Vegas".

I'm in the same boat as William, just going to a different place. I'm heading back home to Texas tomorrow after a year of being away from home. Columbus has lots of construction, that's been a constant since I started up here as a freshman. I'm looking forward to being home, where the weather will be warmer. That's for sure.
It's true... We really are a bunch of nuts!
Go Bucks!
It's official, minus family and affordable homes California is way better (at least Santa Barbara).
