Over/Under on Bo Pelini

Anyone see the Vegas over/under on what game Bo Pelini's head is to explode on the sidelines during the 2013 season? I heard it was 7...if so, I'm going for the under.

Also heard the fans aren't too happy with him and he may be out after next year...ah, rumors...plus, don't they have a new AD? He may want his own guy in there....don't know who that would be but I found it interesting. Although he is a complete psycho on the sideline, they are winning...kind of.

If they beat Wisconsin, I have a hard time believing that they would fire him a year removed from a B1G championship (especially if they win the Rose Bowl).  They would have to truly bomb next season, which I see no reason why that would happen given that they are one of the top 3 teams in the B1G right now.

I have some family ties there- seems like some of the fans/alumni are getting tired of his act on the sidelines and some of the drama w/players (QB being one). I like to see the intensity he brings to the college game but I think his act might be wearing thin for their fans. But, if he keeps winning and wins some bigger games, I'm sure they'll over look it.

I was surprised to hear them talking about him like that but hey- they are probably as demanding as we are.

Im surprised Pelini's name hasnt been mentioned as a possibility for any of the SEC jobs. He was a really hot candidate when he left for Nebraska he has SEC and midwest ties I think he could be a good fit.

He would be a good fit, and he will be talked about, and he will be courted by other schools, and he isn't going anywhere...

Pelini's not going anywhere soon. If he does it will be another HC job by his choice.

Pelini is a god at Nebraska. He gets free rein to do whatever he wants. He will go nowhere.

IF he wins the BIG game against Wisky and IF he wins their bowl game...that is a lot of "IF's" to occur for the fans to be happy and donors happy with where the program is right now.

You are right, but they aren't outrageous ifs.  They should beat Wisconsin, and it should be pretty even with Stanford (although the west coast advantage is tough to overcome).

My God, they better beat Wisky-Tango or our conference will certainly be laughed at. I don't see them losing but they play the game for the reason. I'm was surprised to hear some family members (in Huskerland) talking some trash on him- I thought he was more well liked but hey- there are pockets of discontent almost everywhere you go.

I am surprised everyone here thinks Nebraska beating Wisky should be an easy task.  I thought Wisky was by far our toughest game this year. You can never count on anything in college football but if Wisky plays D the way they did against us, they could be tough to beat.  This is a much tougher Wisky team than the team Nebraska played.  Not to mention Nebraska looked pretty bad in their last game against Iowa.

Well, the Huskers should win. But you're right. The one consistent thing about Nebraska this year is their inconsistency. Should be a slobber knocker but I do hope the Huskers dominate.

I'm not a fan of Pelini but Nebraska would be nuts to let him go while he's winning. However, he might leave on his own, he could take one of the vacant SEC jobs. IMHO, I think he stays put for awhile.

I'd say this over/under changed a bit after the B1G title game. Yikes.

If NEB is not competitive against UGA, then I think Pelini is given one more year, if that.

Anyone see Nebraska ditching Pellini and pulling a 'Bama?

Think about it, they're a historical power; with a tradition of outright athletic dominance and academic excellence.  Why shouldn't they simply back the Brinks truck up at an elite name and offer the world?  The B1G's down, and the right coach could easily cultivate the heartland and compete with Michigan on an annual basis for the Legends Division crown.  Couple that with the situation in the Leaders Division, and you're looking at Ohio State and Michigan as the only two elite obstacles en route to an annual BCS appearance.  Besides, Nebraska already has top-tier facilities, all they really need is a guy who can put it all together.  Find a sexy, proven name, and bet the farm.

@Hodge. I would agree, but I just don't see that name out there this year in the mix of suddenly available names. Really, the name that makes the most sense to me is Tressel in as much as he looks like a guy who would be on the Nebraska sideline, image-wise. I don't see that happening, though. I think they'll sit tight until that sexy name does come up.

The only truly big name bounced around has been Jon Gruden.  His brother, Jay (Bengals OC)may be more likely to take a college (or even NFL) HC job than Jon only because Jon seems to be waiting for the perfect opportunity..

They could go with another SEC d coordinator like Kirby Smart or try to grab a Charlie Strong, but not sure they aren't better off sticking with Pelini.  His record is pretty solid, they just aren't the recruiting monster they were in the 90's in terms of competing on the national level.

@Hodge, I could see that happening. If the Seahawks werent doing so well right now I'd think it would be Pete Carroll. Gruden might take the Nebraska job. Its a blue-collar town. Gruden is perfect for that kind of setting. Hence why the Browns may go after him, too.

Pete Carroll was my first thought, as well.  I don't know if Gruden's ever going anywhere, for a guy who perpetually has that "itch", he seems pretty content to not scratch it.

I don't think he will be going anywhere soon. Husker fans are fickle as they could not get Callahan out of here quick enough (I live in Nebraska). He tried the West Coast offense thing and they got pounded on several ocassions. They still don't like to bring up those years in a discussion. Solich wasn't good enough either because they had Tom Osborne and compare each coach to him. Solich went to Ohio and has done great there. If somebody was to bring in another offensive scheme I think the fans would be hostile towards it based on the failed Callahan years.
