I'm in Evanston (as name would suggest). Used to live next McGee's in Depaul area and used to love the Gaslight. Can vouch for both. North Shore is going to be mostly Domers and Michigan fans (they're freaking everywhere in Chicago), so I'd try to make it into Chicago if you want to hoot and holler. Nevins or Prarie Moon in Evanston are decent. If you want to stay North Side in Chicago, Hop Haus and Mullen's are good neighborhood places.
Yep completely differernt :) Mcgee has really changed, it use to be a douche bag college bar with crappy beer. Now it is a douche bag bar withe a great beer selection. I would recommend Mcgee's . I am actually going to Local Option, which is right down the street
Not in the South Loop. Head to McGee's on Webster (take the Red Line).

Another @chitownbuckeye? Us buckeye fans in Chicago are very creative! ;)

Are you talking about Hop Haus on Clark/Howard? Or the one on Franklin?

Hop Haus on Clark/Howard for North Side. Local Option is great; very, very chill back in the day.
Have any of you guys done the school bus trip from McGees when OSU plays northwestern? It's an absolute blast.
