Weeden was 26 of 37 (70.2%) for 322 yards and 2 TDs. Pretty good numbers for a rookie QB, numbers that were put up against what is supposed to be a good Cincinnati defense. Richardson also looked really good. Then again the Browns are the Browns and will find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
dang William, I went against my word and watched the Browns today. They are better than last year and have 2 starting rookies with promise. 0-2 already. Refs, silly penalties and horrible tackling earned them the loss. Still about 4-5 players away from solid .500 team.
As much as I was done with Weeden week 1, I will give him a couple of weeks before I start calling for Colt again.
Weeden's week 2, and Barkley's loss @ Stanford surely has changed my opinion.
penalties and being down the 2 startin corners. cincy wr's were having a feild day. i'm eatng crow today abt weeden i was thinking abt qb's in the draft already. hope this is the real weeden and he works out. t-rich is the truth, love him lol
I heard today that the earliest the replacement refs will be gone is like Week 5 of the season! I am so ready to see Ed Hochuli and his big guns running around in a ref uniform with his partners. These replacement refs are in a bad spot. They're not experienced or trained enough to be calling NFL games and it shows. I feel for them. But really the league and the referee union needs to do whatever they can to work this out and get the real zebras out there.
Ha, I've never seen a QB get lost in an American flag like that, and in his first pro game no less! What an omen for that one. I think Weeden will rebound and have a decent season although the Browns are still a mess offensively.
I was impressed with the offense against the Bengals...I know that doesn't hold as much water as against the Steelers or Ravens but we'll see what happens. The biggest glaring problem is they have zero big time threat at receiver and it most definitely is glaring. The defense has no obligation to respect the receivers/big plays in the passing game. Weeden looked calm in the pocket with a real smooth release. Trent is a beast.
He had a nice game - but let's face it. Bengals defense - BAD. Very bad. They were dogshit week 1 and weren't much better against the Clowns. He had a nice 4th quarter once the Clowns were down 2 scores already. Just be patient with Weeden - his first game was bad but that doesn't mean that he is not a competent QB.
I can't answer that until I see how he handles the American flag this week...
Over. Will have (slightly) more time to throw this week. No Carlos Dunlap or Dre Kirkpatrick for the Bengals, either.
Brandon Weeden, 400 yards 3 TD's, maybe a pick (but that's doubtful).
Bengals bout to get whomped on.
^If only haha.
How has Marvin Lewis lasted 9 seasons with Bengals, with a 69-74 record?
Browns tackle like the Buckeyes.....whifffffffff.
under im hoping over but have 0 faith in my brownies

Uh oh Browns actually driving into opponents territory. Time for a FG.
OK, refs in Game need to get their asses beat after the game. phantom personal foul, and won't call holding against Bungholes.
Agreed. That personal foul call was ridiculous.
Neither team is very good.
Browns making the comeback..
Weeden with his first TD pass (albeit a short pass to Trent Richardson that he turned into a big play).
Richardson did all the work on that play. Oh would you look at that, the Browns just shit their pants.
Well, so much for the comeback...
Still a ballgame.
Weeden with another TD pass. Pro-Bowl here he comes baby!
FWIW: Cleveland is not good, but Jacksonville is probably the worst team in the NFL and Gabbert is probably the worst starting QB in the league.
As Bad as Weeden looked 1st game, he did look much more like an NFL quarterback week 2.

They were without both of their starting corners, and that showed. Penalties are literally the reason why they didn't win.

The Browns, with the exception of untimely penalties, looked pretty competent on offense last week.
