Just for fun I like playing those fake fantasy football games on ESPN to keep track of the Big Ten top performers. I thought I would create an 11W group so that we can play against other 11W if others like to play too. It's free to play for those who have never played, and is pretty easy because you can pick whichever players you want.
Follow this link to create your team: http://games.espn.go.com/college-football-challenge/en/frontpage
Be sure to select Big Ten as your conference.
Then search for the group "Eleven Warriors" on the Join League page.
I can't offer any prize, but just some 11W bragging rights.

Sweet. Sounds like fun.
I'm in.
Thanks RDUBS.
I'm in as well. Found it odd how they just let you select players, instead of doing something like a draft. Definitely lets you create a dream team.
Should be fun. While a draft would be difficult, I'm surprised there isn't any type of salary cap that "owners" are forced to abide by.
Yeah, I guess with so few players to choose from in any one conference they just let you use anyone. It's still pretty hard because there are pretty big fluctuations week to week. I mainly use it as a way to keep track of players on the other teams that I don't hear as much about that might be having big years.
We have a pretty good crew signed up, feel free to keep 'em coming. First Big Ten game is tomorrow, although I doubt too many will pick any Minnesota players. However if you want to use any Sparty players this week you better get it in before Friday night when they play Boise.
Done.
It was hard not to pick mostly buckeyes but I did pick some. Staying away from Michigan players. They might not get any stats worthwhile! lol
Game on!!
^What? My first pick was Denard Robinson. Dude puts up better numbers than any other B1G QB. Even then, it was hard to pick Miller over Vandenberg as my second QB.
@William just to let you know you can change week to week unlimited number of times. I think Squirrel was referring to the fact that he thinks Alabama's D will shut him down this week. Not to share too much strategy, but that is why I avoided him as well... But next week it might be different.
I was unaware of that, may go ahead and drop him for Vandenberg.
exactly. You can change your picks each week. I wasn't sure if you can pick the same player the next week or have to wait a week but I think you can pick whoever you think will do the best each week. I will normally pick denard but not this week. With bama, I think it will be a low scoring game. I do think Denard will score on Bama, I am just not that confident on it compared to the cream puffs other B1G schools are playing. These first couple of weeks will be basically who do you think will kill the FBS team the most and which player.
You can pick anyone in any week, no waiting period needed, you can leave your team for the whole season if you want. Although the bye weeks would kill you so I won't suggest that. Also, how boring...
On a side note, it looks like you can use the ESPN College Football app to select your players.
Bumpity, bump, bump, bumpity, bump, bump
Any more takers out there?
Just signed up!
How Firm Thy Friendship....
I got in yesterday. This should be interesting. Never did the college one before.
First time doing this ESPN fantasy league, but I like how it's pretty simple and doesn't take a lot of time. Plus, only getting to pick from B1G teams helps keep it simple. I wouldn't be into it if it was one of those leagues where you're drafting, trading, etc. That takes too much time.
EDIT: I also like that you can select your team with the ESPN College Football app because that's really convenient for me.
Not much time left before the season starts, we're up to 31 last I checked.
I do wish we could draft from all NCAA teams. I would like to pick some SEC players and curse them with my terrible luck.
Folks that didn't start Bell missed out.
After week 1, several of the top performers weren’t too surprising. The running backs had a great week with 9 going over 10 points and 4 going for at least 20. Le’Veon Bell was the best running back performer but second place was Damon Bullock, so maybe that AIRBHG took a week off. Unsurprisingly the wide receivers were hard to predict since there aren’t too many dominant recievers in the B1G. The defenses were also a bit surprising as Purdue took advantage of their match up against Eastern Kentucky.
The optimal team from week 1 is shown below along with the % of ESPN users that chose them last week.
QB
Braxton Miller (38 pts, 62.1%)
Taylor Martinez (35 pts, 41.9%)
RB
Le’Veon Bell (38 pts, 70.3%)
Damon Bullock (23 pts, 1.7%)
WR
Jared Abbrederis (20 pts, 52.6%)
John Rabe (15 pts, 0.1%)
Kickers
Iowa (12 pts, 3.6%) and Minnesota (12 pts, 0.4%) tied
Defense
Purdue (29 pts, 1.9%)
Maximum Points: 210
The top player in our group had 176 points which is good enough for 98.6% overall on ESPN. In fact our group did pretty well with only 8 out of 36 scoring below 50%.
BoomerSoonerP is currently leading our group. Not sure if he comes on here, but we can’t let a Big XII fan beat us at our own conference, so get your team set for this next week. Purdue’s defense might have a tougher match up against the domers so jump on that bandwagon at your own risk.
Enjoy!
Sorry for being lazy last week, but here is the up to date list of top performers. Wide receiver seems to be the most up for grabs position each week. I think this was the first week I didn't have a receiver take a goose egg. Remember to get your positions set for the upcoming games.
QB
Braxton Miller (40 pts/gm)
Denard Robinson (36 pts/gm)
RB
Ameer Abdullah (23.7 p/g)
Le’Veon Bell (22 p/g)
WR
Allen Robinson (18 p/g)
AJ Barker (15.3 p/g)
Kickers
Northwestern (11 p/g)
Iowa (9 p/g)
Defense
Purdue (17.3 p/g)
Ohio State (14.7 p/g)
Current Group Leader: Nkohl13 (469 pts)
