Did I miss something good (i.e. a Hooley-esque flame out)? I actually enjoyed Demetrius' point of view most of the time.

D. Stanley finally out? You mean I can finally turn on the daytime 97.1 now? I feel bad for Rothman for actually having to put up with Demetrius as long as he did. All Stanley did was try to justify everything that happened in Columbus the last few years. He never held a player accountable for anything.
IMO Demetrius Stanely was pretty horrible. I live in Tennessee, but from time to time I have listened online to 97.1 and found the Big Show to be pretty annoying with him on there.
I find it so painful to listen to D that I have to turn it off a lot of times. It drives me nuts that he often times justifies his arguments with essentially the "well just because I said so" argument and often often often has no clue whatsoever what he was talking about when it comes to anything other than football (which, to be fair, is only about 10% of conversation on 97.1). I have no idea how Rothman puts up with it because Rothman's actually intelligent on matters discussed and is willing to see both sides of arguments and uses actual explanations and information to back his arguments rather than saying no, you're wrong just because. Even when I 100% agree with D on a topic it annoys me even more because it's like listening to a 2nd grader trying to explain things when it's very clear, cut and dry.
Agreed. Was never a big fan of Stanley but really enjoyed listening to Anthony Rothman and what he had to say. If Beau Bishop is taking over, I'm looking forward to listening to both of them

I'd listen to the fan at work in Illinois and people would always ask me wo the idiot on the radio is. It was always Stanley. If this is true I'm very happy about it.

About time! Stanley may have been a decent WR for the Buckeyes and had a really nice 97' Rosebowl game but he had ZERO business being on the radio or TV. I thought he came across as arrogant and it seemed that Rothman was constantly correcting him on simple sports knowledge. I listened to him a few times and actually felt bad for Rothman for having to put up with him and his narrow angles on everything sports. While we are on the topic I could do without The Common Man and Torg also. I think the only stuff I really like on The Fan is the national guys they brodcast or Indians Baseball. Columbus has never really had a great radio guy, Paul Keels is a great play by play but sports talk is pretty lame locally. IMO
I like common man and the torg they are pretty good. Stanley could get pretty annoying at times, I didn't know they were replacing him though, I thought he was on vacation or something.
I like D. Stanley but I rarely have the chance to listen to his show. The Common Man and The Torg are great.
Neft ended a couple weeks ago...so the Doug Gottlieb show or some crap is on now during the drive home from work.
I like local programming, but D Stanley sucked to the extreme. Still, I'd take him over a syndicated show.

I agree about D.Stanley but Common man and the Torg are great. By far my favorite sports radio show over Cowherd or Mike and Mike.
I actually like Mike and Mike the best. They do more of a straight forward sports talk with not as many opinions. Cowherd is the smartest guy in sports talk radio but he seems to be distant from the average sports fan. I seem to disagree with Cowherd the most. He loves to rip the Buckeye's but his perspective is very unique. Since Cowherd has gotten the big $$$ he has gotten more disconnected and snobby.( kinda sounds like Herby?) I used to listen to Dan Patrick Show but they stopped brodcasting his show a few years ago. He was the most entertaining.
Glad to see Beau Bishop is going to now be with Anthony Rothman. Also liked listening to Mercker the past two days. I hope he continues to be a fill-in. Still no clue as to who is taking Neft's place
Where did Neft end up going? I was listening to his show on the way home from work one night (turned out to be his last) and people were wishing him good luck. Never caught what his new gig was.

There are congratulatory tweets to Beau coming left and right this afternoon as well as his official announcement that he will be joining Rothman on the Big Show... Can I claim credit for "breaking" this story? haha
Neft, I believe, will be doing some sort of weekend program on 97.1 in the fall, but his primary occupation apparently will be something in the mortgage business (per his on-air comments).
Common Man and the Torg are funny (for the most part) but every now and then Torg convinces himself that he is a pseudo-journalist and needs to be knocked down a peg. In my opinion as an occaisional listener, they're at their best when they make self-deprecating jokes about what idiots they are.
I think Rothman and Bishop will be great. Looking forward to the new program.

I do find it funny how you can find the same amount of people who absolutely hate a radio personality and then love the radio personality. Adam Neft probably defied this since I can't imagine anyone hating Neft.
I don't always agree with the Common Man and Torg and when they get on their high horse I just remember they're self described idiots who are here to keep me interested on my drive home. And they're hilarious.... I would love for them to bring back the rant bit - funniest thing ever. I don't care for Would You Rather...
Hooley on the other hand- put me on the wagon of people that absolutely hated him. He was holier than thou, wasn't a self described idiot and really was not entertaining one bit.
I think "hate" is too strong of word for what I felt for Neft, but I did not like his radio show. I think it was how he spoke. The best way I can describe it is his "mock surprise". I know that you try to rachet things up to make them interesting on the radio, but he would always speak in a way that sounded like he was half laughing/half shocked. It got on my nerves.

I will admit I haven't touched Buckeye Football Fever since Rothman and Stanley left (I think?? Or maybe I just don't pay attention at all anymore).
CM&T are hilarious. They do have some decent general sports knowledge (hard to get that though with all the nonesense going on).
Neft's show would have been 10x better if he had occaisionally just shut up for a minute and either a.) taken a call, or b.) let producer Alicia talk.
I really disliked how he would routinely use a 5-10 minute diatribe to set up a premise that he could have expressed in 8 seconds.
(With that said, I do not know Neft, but I imagine he is a very nice person without a bad bone in his body, and I absolutley do not think I could do a better job on radio than he did. I am perhaps the least interesting personality on the planet and would not last 15 minutes on the radio.)
