I am a total sports media dork, and the past days/weeks, near the end of their show, CM&T have crushed Neft. They had Fake Neft call in and mocked him for leaving, and last night, they asked producer Alicia if the new TBone show was going well and that he wasn't mean to her or yelling...obviously talking about what Neft was...They also yelled about now they have a show at 6 o'clock that isn't a waste of time...I am surprised they are attacking Neft after he has left...
Does anyone know anything about their beef? My buddy is related to Alicia so I'll try to get the inside scoop, but it seems odd that they would crush Neft after he left and I can't imagine he was an ass behind the scenes. But maybe he was, and maybe the ratings weren't there, but CM&T are acting like 5th grade bullies.
I've kind of noticed that as well. I missed the reason as to why Neft left in the first place, do you know why he left? Doesn't sound like it was on the best of terms.
I thought CM&T mentioned Neft left for a job in the mortgage industry, but that's all I heard, and I didn't get the impression they were joking.
Yep, like BASSPLAYER said, I heard it was a complete career change out of radio (with a few minor fill-in opportunities here and there), but that could have simply been someone guessing.
However, Neft's show was awful. I would never say that I could do better, but I know that other people can, so I'd rather hear them. Same goes for DS3. I love what he did as a Buckeye, but couldn't take him on the radio for The Fan.
I have no idea what happened. I've only met Neft a handful of times but I always found him to be extremely polite. He was very cool to the site in general even helping us get on his show to talk Buckeyes and promote the site. He showed up at the Spring Banger. I have nothing but good things to say about the dude as a person.
I wasn't a gigantic fan of his radio show but I didn't think it was horrible. It was certainly better than hearing D-Stanley's completely ridiculous and typically ill-informed opinions.
I think Beau Bishop will be the best thing to happen to that radio station in a long time. CM&T get ratings and are sometimes funny but I view their show as WWE style entertainment versus having much value as a sports talk show with good guests and insight. They just go for shock value most of the time. Again, funny at times but not my thing personally.
Neft comments on here, hopefully he'll enlighten us. I actually almost liked his show. Much better than CM and Torg. I hate those two brainless goons. Ricordati tries his hardest to be clever and say witty things, but he just recycles the same damn material over and over and when his horrible attempts at humor fail, he just goest to wrestling references. And Torg, his only saving grace is that he openly admits he's an idiot, but listening to his voice is like chewing foil. Neft was a fan, and not just some goon that's been in the business for a long time and just tells old war stories about how he met certain athletes. They're almost as bad as Parker and the Man were in Detroit. It's almost like they tried to fit their same format. Opie and Anthony for sports talk.

@CHRIS & GOBUCKS713 - My sentiments exactly. I used to hate Neft's show, but I learned to appreciate the fact that he actually talked sports, wheres CM & T don't do much of that at all (honestly, 75% of the opinions on this site blow them out of the water; we're too smart for them haha).
I just think Eleven-dub should take over his 6pm slot.
Chris, I sorta agree on CM&T. I kinda wish they would switch the time slots for CM&T and Rothman/Bishop so I could hear The Big Show while I drive home from work.
CM&T don't bother me too much, as it seems they do some others on here, simply because they usually take themselves for what they are: idiots. They are loud, obnoxious, and opinionated, and occasionally say some funny things. However, I like @BASSPLAYER's idea of switching time slots, because I typically have to pull up my Fan app and throw on the headphones to hear The Big Show. Only met Neft once and he truly did seem like a good guy and a Buckeye fan, just couldn't listen to his show for more than 5 minutes without thinking that silence or classic rock would be better.

Common Man and Torg are an embarrassment to Columbus, I woud expect this behavior from them. Neft was a little boring but he talked sports and was a pretty rational guy. I haven't listened to sports radio in almost one year because I moved but I don't miss it. Especially since I don't have to hear that screech owl Cowherd.
Trying to reach out to Ellis for a comment on the situation. Seems like he'd be pretty in the know.
Interesting. I get a kick out of Commom Man & the Torg. I also enjoy wrestling, so that's probably why I enjoy their show (not just the wrestling references, but the general style of their show). Neft's show was pretty decent, too. He needed a good co-host. CM&T was probably just giving him some shit. That's what they tend to do.

Neft seemed like a decent dude and wasn't nearly as annoying as Stanely could be ///Whatever happened to him anyway? Obviously he was replaced but to me it was sudden and without explanation./// My only problem with Neft was that he was one of the most long-winded radio guys I ever heard. He could spend what seemed like 2-3 minutes rambling about something that takes 1 sentence to cover and most of the time it was about a minute detail, and maybe that's because he was by himself and he tries to stretch the show a bit but I found it annoying and completely unnecessary.
I like this TBone guy though. I liked him as a producer and then when they gave him a co-host spot last week for one show I thought he sounded pretty good. I hope his show turns out well.
Common Man, Torg, and T-Bone have all made mysteriously ominious Twitter posts today about a very important call they took part in this afternoon... I am wondering if it's somehow related to their apparent vendetta against Neft. I can't believe I am about to type these words but... I am excited to listen to their show this afternoon to see what the hell is up! I kind of hope they received a well deserved spanking. Frankly, I enjoy the drama that eminates from 97.1 from time to time.
How quickly we forget stuff like this.
@741: I've noticed that as well. I didn't know that there was much of a beef between CM&T and Neft. (I usually listen to sports talk radio, but not so much in the last 2 months due to work). I'll tune in to find out what this is about. How did all this start anyway?

You know, radio personalities are actors playing a role. They'll say outrageous stuff and act on way on the radio when in all actuality they are pretty likeable people. There's a guy here on the radio waves in Cincinnati, who plays a very outrageous character on the radio(one which people actually believe is real so they call his show to agree or disagree) who acts much much different in person, and isn't abrassive or a jackass at all.
Also, here in Cincinnati, the Dawn Patrol and Bob the Producer used to rip local TV news anchor Randy Little ALL THE TIME. It was usually pretty mean spirited stuff. However, turns out they weren't arch enemies at all. They just always ripped on him and he had a pretty good sense of humor about it all.
Could be these guys are all getting a laugh off the air together. Could be they are just D-bags and are having fun at a nice guys expense too.
These guys are in the entertainment busines but I am not entertained.
I wouldn't bother. I always get tricked into waiting for something that sounds interesting, and then when it gets here, I couldn't care less. They're a shock and teaser kind of show, and it's nothing to feel bad about missing.

Neft does seem like a nice polite guy...Too nice and polite for radio. His show was, indeed, a waste of time imo.
