Ohio vs PA football "argument"

My mentioning Ohio's 4th strait Big 33 win set off my friend who started spouting NFL HOFers that are from PA (Marino, Montana, Unitas, J Kelly, Lynn Swann) ... which led to talk of Katzenmoyer and others from Ohio who have fizzled.

I was hoping to find an NFL database which could be sorted by state born but could not - anyone have anything for me?  Or a list of NFL holl of famers who were born/raised in Ohio??

I found this on the Pro Football HOF website. It seems that Pennsylvania does lead the way with their number of HOF's, and then Texas, but Ohio is not far behind.

BTW: Lynn Swann is from Tennessee not Pennsylvania according to this list. He did, of course play professionally in Pittsburgh.

I'd say Ohio and PA (mostly western PA) are the two best high school football areas in the north. Arguing which is better is kind of a no win situation.

Tennessee - good job on that link. Larry Csonka, Roger Staubauch, Len Dawson, Don Shula, Chuck Knoll, Dick Labeau....Some pretty damn good HOF names to come out of Ohio.

Um, Walrusball co-founder Jim Bollman AMIRIGHT?!?!!??

When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."

A good friend of mine who I went to high school with moved to pa. He coaches boys b ball and softball there. Says no sports are equally to Ohio sports. The drive and popularity isn't the same. Says small pockets come close bit no were near the scope of Ohio sports. He has had a first hand view of both

The pa school called a football game cause of rain, rain not lightning.

This thread is full of winning ... thanks.

@BUCKEYECHAD, I've never been one to back away from a non-win argument, I can talk in circles I just didn't have much ammo to go with this time.

If you want to win this argument offer to consolidate OH & PA as equals and compare them to the rest of the country. Not sure any other area comes close.

@PITT - Saban also coached DBs at Ohio State.  Pete Carroll and Lou Holtz were another assistant coaches who came through Columbus.

Thought we were talking birthplace not coaching positions. My mistake.

Pitt Buck - Originally I think this was about birthplace, but it has kinda branched out from there.
