Internet TV

I'm selling the current and buying a new home and I'm thinking about not having cable TV at the new place and going with internet TV services. I've been looking for a good site that covers the pros and cons, what is available and maybe where things are trending but haven't found one yet. Any recommendations?

I cut the cord on cable. Besides sports, majority of the shows I watched are on the major networks that you can get over the air. It's great except I love DVR so I'm putting all my eggs in one basket and trying this out for DVR.

I think if I switch from U-Verse to Time Warner I'll be able to get ESPN/BTN coming on the coaxe cable to my house.... Just won't be HD (which I can live with). Also looking to see what family and friends have Time Warner so I can use their account for the WatchESPN app for my iPad which I can do air play to my Apple TV and watch on my big screen.

if you want something that will stream games live and even boxing matches, MMA etc.  http://www.thefirstrow.eu/  is the site to go to.

I recommend thefirstrow.eu (aka p2p4u.net) as well but use Chrome with Adblock. Makes everything much better and actually watchable.

Apple TV works really well for Netflix/movies/NBA/NHL/MLB.

On a somewhat related note, ever read Rainbows End?

how about a website that'll show OSU games this fall?

it's the only reason I haven't ended cable, and living in FL means I can't catch most games on local tv...

The Big 10 Network should offer internet streaming pay as you go or subscription. Missing out on a revenue stream.

This.

I just recently moved to Irvine, CA and this will be my first year scouring the planet to find OSU games (I fear).  When I lived in Cleveland, OH, I could rest assure that the Buckeyes would be on either ABC or ESPN.  Now... I fear due to regional coverage, I may be lost without my Buckeyes.  Please send help me out!

I have lived in Fla for about 2 years now without cable.  I have a Roku http://www.roku.com/ and it was a great purchase.  It can stream Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Pandora, HBOGo and a bunch more channels.  The only real downside is it is difficult to watch sports because I cant get ESPN3 or BTN2GO on it. If you have a subscription to MLB or NBA TV you can stream those, but I do not think you can get and NFL package for it.  I am a Cleveland/OSU fan so if i want to watch a Buckeyes/Browns/Cavs/Indians game I go to a Sports bar (luckily there is a BW3 about 2 miles from my house) or have to stream them form my computer using my parents Time Warner Info.

I suppose the Big 10 Network cannot undercut their cable carriers by offering streaming where it is available by cable. I'm not sure they can determine if someone is outside a cable area and offer streaming but it seems there should be a way.

Google Nexus Q was just announced but from what I understand of it so far I think the Vizio Co-Star would be a better choice for my needs. I might just throw up a HDTV antenna, get a reasonable fast internet connection & a Co-Star and forget about the cable TV package.
