You are prob. already aware, but under the main banner it says "football schedule" twice, rather than one of them reading "basketball schedule." The links go to the appropriate places though.
And we'll drink to old Ohio, 'Til we wobble in our shoes!
when you click "continue reading" or click on one of the "new" replies at the top right of the page, it takes you to the bottom of the post, instead of to either the break, or the new reply. Fortunately with the yellowing of the new replies, it's not a huge problem with the replies, but it's kinda frustrating when you click continue reading and it takes you to the last reply, instead of to the break
Continue reading isn't as slick as in WP, but we're working to improve it. It should not take you to the bottom of the page, but instead, the top, but still.
As for clicking "new", it should take you to the first of the most recent comments when you click it from the "Recent Posts" page in your user box.

Also, for the RSS Chief mentioned, that's been fixed.
Noticed what Nik was talking about. On IE at work, clicking NEW COMMENTS takes me to the first unread comment as it should. On FF at home, it takes me to the bottom of the comments section.
It did it with me on my old computer (Win 7 using FF 3.X) and it does it on this computer as well (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, FF 3.6.12).
I have however noticed that it never did it on my old winmo phone using the opera browser (both 9 and 10) and it doesn't do it on my current droid phone running either the built-in browser or opera 10, though with the built-in browser, it stays at the top of the page instead of going to the comment

i am having trouble loading the forums i get a lot of internet explorer errors and have to refresh or go back a lot it just happened recently and its only this site under the forums i am having trouble. The message I get is unable to load the internet site elevenwarriors,com/forum operation aborted
@otrain2416: What happens when you view the forums in other browsers? Also, how often are you seeing these errors in IE? Every time, every three times, etc.?
Which browser does that comic even recommend then?
Also, I'm not sure if it's a new feature to encourage people to make accounts or something...but I can't see the blog post and active in the forum section without signing in.
Edit: so after catching a glance at the bottom of the webpage I see this described somewhat in the perks with signing up, I just wasn't sure if you weren't supposed to see those sections at all.
Colin, I happen to use firefox and love it. There are add ons but they're executable, so you only use what you want if any at all. I've used chrome and still have it installed but don't use it. Google is a great search engine but I really don't like the fact that they store all searches and are subject to subpoena, so I won't use chrome. ie is just turrible as Chuck B would say.
Colin, yeah, the forum and blog posts boxes on the front page are hidden unless you're signed in. We did that to help lighten the load on the server. Membership has its privleges, after all.
I get the same errors as otrain. Haven't been able to really browse the site in the past week. I wouldn't wish IE on my worst enemy but I don't have a choice at work.
I work at a major bank, and everyone in my department that I've turned on to 11w is having issues. It could be the fact that said bank is too worried about shareholder dividend by not upgrading all of their systems to move away from IE6. Supposedly we are moving to IE8 in June.
I've been having that error with IE at work as well. Happens every time I try to click a link that takes me to something other than the front 11W page. It coincided with signing day; not sure if something else besides server upgrades was happening in the background that day as well. It also was happening on chrome, but fixed once I logged in. IE doesn't seem to have a fix that I have discovered. Regardless, thanks for all you do! Love the site.

I'm using IE7. It started happening last Wednesday or Thursday.
I get the same exact issues as Flipbuck when I'm at work. Started in the same timeframe he mentioned. Also running IE6 or IE7 or something, have no way of changing my browser.
Like others, I use IE at work, and I always have to refresh the page in order to see the Buckshots, Forum, etc. When I use Firefox at home, it works fine.
Okay, I just reversed some of the optimization options we added for signing day. IE crew, could you please let me know if you're still having problems?
I know this is a pain to keep visiting the site like this, but are you guys seeing this error only on pages where you can comment? For example, are you seeing it here, buckshot item pages, story pages, etc., but not the front page?
I too am having issues at work. I just assumed my firm's draconian internet policies and ancient web browser (IE7 I think) was the problem. Glad I stumbled upon these comments.
In other news, my productivity at the office has recently doubled.
Had to post this from home, but I've had a similar "operation aborted" at least 90% of the time on all pages at work (IE): Front, articles, forums, etc.
Good to hear, Flip. I'm almost willing to bet that the problem you're still (sometimes) seeing is related to the Twitter box on the front page.
If you want to get creative, you could point twitter.com to 127.0.0.1 in your hosts file, and that would likely solve any future problems, but it would also mean you wouldn't be able to load twitter.com.
Again, not allowed to post from work (IE), but pages are loading much better there. Still got 1-2 "operation aborted" errors each day yesterday & today, but I can live with that. Great job!
So the drop down menu's in the "FAVORITES" section aren't working. I click on a site name and it goes no where, just brings that name up on the drop down menu title.

Weird. It's working for me. Do you have javascript disabled by any chance? Also, what browser/operating system are you on?
Ok, so the drop down favorites menu problem is still sporadically happening. I think that I've pinpointed that it only happens when I'm on the front page. When I'm in a story or on the forums, etc., it works fine.
“Any time you give a man something he doesn't earn, you cheapen him. Our kids earn what they get, and that includes respect.” - Woody
Getting it every so often over here, RBUCK. I find that it only happens on the homepage, so I just get around using the RECENT POSTS page with no problems.
Don't know if this is a bug or not, but I know that links used to open up separate browser tabs. It doesn't seem like this is occurring anymore, not a big deal, but I always thought that was a great feature.
The direct links to comments, new comments and recent comments is not working for me. All take you to the top of the story. This is happening using IE8 on a PC and IE9 on a laptop. Anyone else?
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
I'm on a macbook and having problems with the titles of everything. Some have clickable titles but normally they are just two random letters. Some don't have a clickable title at all(forums).
Works fine on my iphone, but can't get it to work on safari on my macbook. Just recently started happening.
@Ohioste The problem is you're using Safari, I'd higly recommend downloading Chrome, it works much better, and I've never had a problem running it on my Macbook.
I click on the previous page arrow to return to the home page and it's taking multiple clicks. History shows something called Platform.twitter.com/widgets. At one point there were about 20. This is annoying as hell. Any way to block them?
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
If you're seeing it on Dispatch.com as well, I'd venture to say that it's not a problem on our end and maybe something to do with Twitter. It's still annoying, I imagine. Any chance you could start using Chrome or do you not have that option?
When I try to Embed Media or an Image from the new comment area in the front page stories, clicking on one of the two buttons results in the screen becoming washed out, but no embed or link window appearing. This causes a loss of the ability to do anything on the page and the only way I can manipulate my comment again after this happens is to reload the whole page, resulting in the loss of what I was trying to type in.
This does not happen if I am replying to someone else's comment or if I make my comment and then edit my comment to insert the media.
I typically use Google Chrome, but I have tested this in IE8 and it appears to be the case there as well.

I thought I'd add some pics for my problem above even though there's not much to see.
Before:
After:
Again this happens when I use "Link", "Image", or "Embed Media" (basically anything that opens an option window) from inside a blog post when I'm trying to add a new comment. I can post the comment and then edit it to add the link, image, or media, and it doesn't bug out if I am replying to someone else's comments. Also, since I was able to use the "Image" option here but not in the Skully this morning, it appears that forum posts are also not affected.
I had thought that the issue resolved itself after making a post for all subsequent posts, but according to my test, this is not the case.
You can kill a fly with your slipper or a cannon. Either way, the fly dies. -Ramzy
Also, I'm wondering if it isn't popping your windows offscreen or somewhere where you can't see them? The modal, when popped, pretty much disables the screen behind it and the only way to get back to the toolbar/comment box is to click cancel on the modal window.
Jason, I am experiencing this on a comp that I have dual monitors set up but havens seen the modal after searching through all my open stuff. I also haven't seen any errors, but I'll look a bit more when I get back to my comp.
I figured it had to do with trying to pull the modal up. Would it be possible to make it so the modal would close and restore control through use of the ESC key? That would definitely remove some of the frustration of having to retype my posts.
Thanks for the support!

Whenever I try to "preview" my comments I get this message:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 24 bytes) in /home/elevenwa/public_html/includes/database.mysqli.inc on line 167
Then I just have to go back and type my response again and post it directly as I can not preview the comment without said message popping up.
Also, any plans on creating a "Back to the Top" button? This would be very helpful for those long threads.
Thanks to the entire 11W staff, keep up the good work. Happy New Year!
This isn't a site bug but I do have a recommendation. Recently the influx of articles and forums have increased on the site and there are a lot more. I think it might be a good idea to have a feature that would let one bookmark them so you can read them later or if you want to revisit one for a later time that might be a good idea. A good example of this might be forums where people talk about their trips to other schools. If you bookmark or pin those you can refer back to it later when you think about going...

This may have been brought up before and I may have missed it, so I apologize if I have. While this isn't a bug, one thing I have noticed is that when you go to a page with new posts in a thread and it has multiple pages, you lose the *new* marker and highlighted post when you move to the next/different page in that thread. It makes it rather difficult to know what is actually new on other pages in the thread. Is there anyway to change that or is that just something that comes with the territory and I'll need to learn to deal with it?
Noticed the same thing recently with the Vonn Bell thread. Seldom get into the multiple page threads but it is frustrating as you have no idea where the latest conversations are.
It's going to sound like I'm a complainer all of the sudden with the last to posts on this board, lol. But I use Chrome at my home, but in my office, I use Internet Explorer. On Chrome, I noticed that you can move between the pages in the thread on both the top and the bottom of the page but on IE I have to scroll to the bottom to be able to move between the pages in the thread. Not sure why there would be difference, but there definitely is one.
When i go to the the second or third page, etc. of any forum topic, the new comments aren't in yellow like they would be on the first page making it difficult to find the new comments. It's almost as if once I'm in the forum topic and i flip to the second or third page etc. the forum refreshes as if I've read the new comments on subsequent pages and thus changes the new comments from yellow to white before I can see them in yellow.
I realize I'm being picky, but I feel like I wouldn't be doing my job as an 11W faithful if I didn't say something. No biggie.
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
I keep getting an "error on page" at the bottom of IE when I'm trying to embed media. Not sure if this is an IE issue but I haven't had this problem before with it.
Yeah, it doesn't show up with me either, but on the bottom of the page where it typically says "done" it says "error on page" which means something happened. Maybe I'll have to try it by replying to someone next time and see what happens.
Sometimes, when I click on the insert media or link buttons, my screen "freezes" up and I have to back out of the page and lose any text I've typed into the "post new comment" box.
Also, sometimes, when I go to upvote someone, it doesn't appear to register for me, until I revisit the page and see that the vote was tallied.
Those are the same issues I was alluding to earlier. It freezes the page for some reason as well. But like I said, it says "error on page" at the bottom so not sure what the problem may be.
But I too have the same issue with upvotes/downvotes not appearing all of the time when I do it.
I have these same problems. In order to vote I must "refresh" the page each time I would like to vote. Have had the freeze problem when trying to embed also. Usually I just give up and do not post anything.
Clicking on the spell check icon (low on the priority list I know, but...) freezes the site on my MacBook. One out of ten times it works as it's supposed to, but that vast majority of the time it makes the text field light gray and will not let me edit, or continue on with my post in any way. Frustrating...
Yea, just about to post this as well. It happened on my MacBook Pro. It was one night where it happened every time, then it hasn't had a problem since.
Agree the spell checker bug is an annoyance. On the upside, I'm impressed that I'm not the only one checking his spelling on this forum, reinforcing my belief that 11w is by and large the most intellectual Buckeye forum out there.
When I press the spell check on a MBP and Firefox, the options don't always show up, and I have to put my cursor over the spots for the buttons i.e. ignore, change, and finish checking to pop up.
Similar to what those above are saying, when I use my iPad to post and I want to use any of the media add in buttons it makes the screen grey like ti should but boxes show up to do anything. Could be a iPad issue, but it happens more frequent than not with no seeming pattern.
I think the white/gray screen problem has to do with the embed code for tweets. Twitter is giving a protocol-less URL for its JS, like: //platform.twitter... and then the editor freaks out because there's no HTTP or HTTPS. Can you guys confirm that you're primarily seeing the graying out of the editor on pages with embedded tweets?
As for the spellchecker problem, that's weird because I use that function on a MBP all the time and it's never crashed on me. What browser are you using?
Jason, re: spellcheck, I had the issues others described while using Chrome on my MBP... I switched to FireFox and haven't had the issue repeated there. That said, my Chrome experience was getting pretty buggy in general, so I abandoned ship and went back to FF.
This really isn't a site bug issue, but more of a suggestion. As far as voting goes, how about until someone earns the right to vote, they have a black stripe somewhere, like maybe going across their icon, or maybe under their name in the post?
1. Recently when I upvote someone (haven't downvoted recently) it doesn't show it registers until I refresh the page.
2. When I click the more button for blogs, all the side buttons i.e. the forum posts, and blog posts turn into buttons that resemble the save and preview buttons.
When I upload pics and try to edit the dimensions when trying to post, the picture just goes back to the original dimensions. It use to work before no problem but now it doesn't. Also, how do you delete pictures out of your stored pics on 11w since we only have 20MB? Any help possible would be nice.

Hi Jason! I keep getting this message when trying to preview a comment after typing:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 72 bytes) in /home/elevenwa/public_html/includes/database.mysqli.inc on line 168
What am I doing wrong?
I also had a question back in February (4), as did others, about why we can only seem to up/down vote one time and then have to keep refreshing the page in order to vote on other comments in the same thread. Any suggestions? Sorry if this is a repeat question, but I did glance through this entire thread before I posted the original question...
Is anyone else having problems accessing Forum topics/comments in Firefox? My browser just gets hung up on "connecting" to when I click on a comment or topic. It only seems to happen with the forums (front page articles, Buckshots, blog posts are all fine). I do not have this issue with Explorer.
You are prob. already aware, but under the main banner it says "football schedule" twice, rather than one of them reading "basketball schedule." The links go to the appropriate places though.

Getting it every so often over here, RBUCK. I find that it only happens on the homepage, so I just get around using the RECENT POSTS page with no problems.
Same here Flip and BFXC. Only on homepage and sporadic.

I'm on a Macbook and have never had any problems-- Hmm.. I feel like I say that a lot...

Nope, but I'm rocking Chrome.
You and I usually share the same problems Rbuck, but I'm not getting that bug here. IE7 Vista.
Thanks for the feedback Flip. BTW, also using Vista on both machines and getting an error notice on the Homepage.

I'm on a macbook and having problems with the titles of everything. Some have clickable titles but normally they are just two random letters. Some don't have a clickable title at all(forums).
Works fine on my iphone, but can't get it to work on safari on my macbook. Just recently started happening.
Any ideas?
@Ohioste The problem is you're using Safari, I'd higly recommend downloading Chrome, it works much better, and I've never had a problem running it on my Macbook.
Weird. Looking good for me on Safari:

Can you try Safari on another computer?
Not sure why, but booted up today and seems to work fine.
I click on the previous page arrow to return to the home page and it's taking multiple clicks. History shows something called Platform.twitter.com/widgets. At one point there were about 20. This is annoying as hell. Any way to block them?

I'm not seeing this. Anyone else?
What browser are you using? What OS?
IE9. Vista.

@RBuck, Sorry for the noob question, but what is "bump"?
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
He bumped the topic, so that it reappeared on the sidebar under forums. It makes the topic more visible to admins, mods, and members.
Do you see it in other browsers? Chrome?
Don't use any other browsers. This started today on 11W and dispatch.com. no others.
I am getting the same thing. I only get it on Internet Explorer though. Chrome works great. That's fine with me because I prefer chrome anyways..
I'm not sure if this could be called a Site Bug, but the Basketball season starts in less than 4 weeks and the schedule hasn't been updated yet.
-The Aristocrats!
Site bug I've been noticing lately:
When I try to Embed Media or an Image from the new comment area in the front page stories, clicking on one of the two buttons results in the screen becoming washed out, but no embed or link window appearing. This causes a loss of the ability to do anything on the page and the only way I can manipulate my comment again after this happens is to reload the whole page, resulting in the loss of what I was trying to type in.
This does not happen if I am replying to someone else's comment or if I make my comment and then edit my comment to insert the media.
I typically use Google Chrome, but I have tested this in IE8 and it appears to be the case there as well.

Is the bug forum still being monitored?

Hmm... I'm a heavy Chrome user (OS X) and I am not seeing this behavior. Is anyone else?
Also, are you seeing any Javascript errors in your browser? Thanks for reporting this, BTW.
Just started not working for me today. Weird, it works in the stories but not in Buckshots, Blog Posts, nor Forum Topics.
Seeing in status bar "java script void".

Also, I'm wondering if it isn't popping your windows offscreen or somewhere where you can't see them? The modal, when popped, pretty much disables the screen behind it and the only way to get back to the toolbar/comment box is to click cancel on the modal window.
I've never had any problems or bugs on here except for the Wolvereen fan base commenting ! haha jk. love the input from the rivals.
Oh and I'm using Firefox on Vista, and like I said, never had any kind of problems except for when my home internet is all F'd up.

Curiouser and curiouser.
Apparently I am only experiencing this for the Skull Session blog posts. The other stories don't seem to have this issue.
I did check again to see if it was throwing the modal up under another window, but no luck. Weird.

Strange. Anyone else seeing this behavior?
@Jason - New development: Today's Thursday Skully brings the modal window up just fine. I rechecked Wednesday's Skully and it still doesn't work.
Aren't computers magical? :-P

That's strange. I'm wondering if there's something embedded in the Weds Skully that is messing with the javascript.
Thanks. This is a legit bug. We'll get it fixed.
Just an FYI, Vandy is still listed in your 2013 schedule.
Thank you.

Hmm.... If only browsers could do this... :/
I have the same issue, and it's a bit of a frustration, honestly.
Noticed the same thing recently with the Vonn Bell thread. Seldom get into the multiple page threads but it is frustrating as you have no idea where the latest conversations are.
Yeah, it's an annoyance with our system. Should be fixed soon.
Thanks Jason - you guys run a class operation, and it shows in little things like this. Cheers.
Thanks for the hardwork, Jason.
I just asked that a couple questions up. Jason responded to it there. It's in the process of being fixed.
I keep getting an "error on page" at the bottom of IE when I'm trying to embed media. Not sure if this is an IE issue but I haven't had this problem before with it.
*Edit* I also get it when trying to link as well
I don't get an error, it just doesn't show up. The weird thing is, it works fine when i'm replying to someone.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Started happening to me today, can't post an image. Using Vista/IE9.

me also, using chrome. thought it was an issue with websense at work, but got home and same thing happened.

Yeah, spell check also quit working for me today.
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
When I press the spell check on a MBP and Firefox, the options don't always show up, and I have to put my cursor over the spots for the buttons i.e. ignore, change, and finish checking to pop up.
Oops [deleted: wrong thread].
-The Aristocrats!
2 things.

I created a thread on deleting the stored pics and what not about two weeks ago. No has responded..
Hi Jason! I keep getting this message when trying to preview a comment after typing:
Any ideas?
