How much does Clemson fear Alabama poaching Dabo Swinney, an alumnus, when Nick Saban hangs up his crimson trident? Apparently enough to shell out more than 30 million dollars.

From collegefootballtalk.com:

Reports Tuesday morning say Clemson’s board of trustees have agreed to a new six-year contract valued at a total of $30.75 million, which averages out to $5.125 million per year.

The value of the contract per year will be expected to fluctuate. Swinney will earn $4.5 million in 2016 and will increase to $5.6 million by 2021. Swinney will receive$800,000 per year in licensing compensation and there is a long list of potential bonuses he can unlock each season. Appearing in the ACC Championship Game will add $75,000, and winning it will add an additional $75,000. A bowl appearance is worth $75,000 but a trip to the College Football Playoff nets Swinney an extra $200,000, with another $100,000 for a semifinal victory. Appearing in the national championship game provides an overriding bonus of $400,000, and winning it all adds an extra $100,000.

Just remember, Dabo: Buying your players lunch at McDonalds is an NCAA violation.
