Jimbo Fisher to LSU was a thing.

"Jimbo Fisher to LSU" and "Les Miles is coaching for his job" were two Internet rumors all but a week ago. Then LSU beat an unranked Texas A&M, 19-7, at home and seemed to solve all the problems in Baton Rouge.

As it turns out, Jimbo Fisher to LSU was a real thing ... until the People of Louisiana made their voice heard.

According to theadvocate.com, backchannel negotiations between Fisher (a former LSU assistant) and the university were ongoing. The Board of Supervisors was split, but an outpouring of public support for Miles "factored in" to the final decision.

Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal even placed a call to the university and implored it to retain its championship coach. The A&M win was the icing on the cake.

And that, my good friends, is how the Warlock lived to dance another year in Baton Rouge. As they say, you come at the king ... you best not miss.
