Michigan State has climbed from middling Big Ten team to respected national power. The Spartans are up to No. 2 in the polls, but Mark Dantonio isn't about to pat his team on the back — not with the Chippewas of Central Michigan rolling into town on Saturday.

From MLive.com:

"I do remind our players, we were 8-1 going into our 10th game in 2013 before we finally cracked the top 25," Dantonio said. "It's a hard climb up, it's a quick drop down."

It's not been hard for Dantonio to sell his players on the threat the Chippewas could pose. Many of Central Michigan's players will come to Spartan Stadium for Saturday's noon game intent on proving they were worthy of a Big Ten scholarship.

Certainly, the Chippewas have proven their point to Dantonio and his staff before, scoring a 29-27 win in East Lansing over a Kirk Cousins-led team.

Dantonio said he remembers the upset "vividly." Could the Chippewas send Sparty tumbling? Well, that'd certainly be a loss the old Michigan State would take.
