Duron Carter's washing out at Ohio State had nothing to do with on-the-field talent and everything to do with his hatred of school. After a tumultuous college career that saw the former top recruit make stops at Ohio State, Coffeyville Community College, Alabama and Florida Atlantic — and no meaningful snaps at any of the three FBS stops — Carter is poised to enter the NFL via Canada.

From Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports:

Troubled wide receiver Duron Carter, son of Hall of Fame pass catcher Cris Carter and formerly a top college recruit, is free to begin negotiating with NFL teams next month. And upward of 10 NFL teams are tracking the CFL standout closely. Several sources close to the player believe the Colts will quickly emerge as the favorites to land him, and Indianapolis has significant interest in the potential impact player.

Roughly a third of the league has interest in bringing Carter in for a visit and numerous scouts who have watched him closely have told me he could start for many NFL teams right now. The timing couldn't be better as we're about to enter an offseason in which the receiver free agent class is expected to be very thin once the franchise tag and fifth-year options are extended. Carter is being seen as a top priority by some clubs.

Given the level of interest in the former Buckeye, it doesn't appear Carter's Coffeyville quarterback has any pull within NFL front offices.
