Wives (or significant others) are great, because there are times when they won't feed into your self-pitying bullshit.

Oklahoma's Bob Stoops was stressing, as I'm sure all coaches do, when he realized he was likely to be matched up with mighty Alabama in the 2014 BCS Sugar Bowl.

That was, until, Stoops' wife reminded him of a simple fact.

From Tulsa World via r/CFB:

“My wife woke up about seven. I was getting ready to go in the office. She said, ‘What did you find out?’ I said, ‘Well, the good news is we’re going to the Sugar Bowl, it looks like. The bad news is it looks like Alabama.’

“She says, right back, ‘They’re probably saying the same thing. They’ve gotta play Oklahoma.’

“That put a smile on my face and I went to work.”

And that's the story of how Mrs. Stoops slayed the Alabama dragon.
