Woody Hayes Is Losing to Joe Paterno, and We Can't Have That

Woody Hayes is the man, we all know it. And even though his career was obliterated with one lousy decision, the man's legacy will forever trump Joe Paterno's, as evidenced by Woody's beautiful statue still pearlin' outside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

ESPN is holding a "Bracket of B1G Coaches" so to speak — it is bracket season, after all — and Woody Hayes is currently trailing Joe Paterno in their Final Four match-up.

11Wers and Buckeye fans, I think you know what must happen next. JoePa must be removed from this tournament in similar fashion to how his statue was uprooted from Penn State's campus.

So many reasons why Paterno beating Hayes is just plain wrong.

My vote is in. Can we vote daily, or is it a 1 time thing?

One time, but use every single browser on your computer (IE, Chrome, Firefox, etc.)

Found out that if you use the incognito in Chrome option repeatedly, you can vote infinitely.

Voted on all of my laptop browsers and then on all of my cell phone browsers as well.

Woody Hayes forever!

I think we've moved the needle a bit, but still too close for comfort.

The sad thing is that the final matchup should be Woody versus Bo, as always, but current voting looks as though Tom Osborne (a legend in his own right, for sure) is going to edge Bo... Where are all these so-called Michigan Men?

Osborne wasn't even a B1G coach, shouldn't had been an option.

7 a.m and Osborne is crushing Bo (68% to 32%) - Nothing else to do in Nebraska apparently.

Woody has a lead by about 6% - keep up the votes

I don't think the different browsers or incognito methods work as the vote count isn't increasing. Just FYI in case some of you want to use the time saved to look up more 11W goodness at work.

Looks like its tied as of 0654 this morning.

Woody down 49% to 51%.

I've been revoting via Incognito, but it keeps showing the same total number of votes.  Don't know if my vote is actually working in Incognito.  Anyone seeing the same thing?

Woody's getting dominated in the "international" voting. That's the difference right now. Only getting 33% of over 2,000 votes. That made up the difference overnight.

Yeah, that is interesting. If you take out international votes, Woody is the clear favorite by probably 1,000. I wonder what is up with that?

Penn State probably developed some kind of automatic ESPN voting center in the Cayman Islands. I bet that's what it is.

BHT's picture

I checked last night and Woody was winning 51% to 49%. Now Paterno is winning 53% to 47%. Let's vote again today. Woody must win the tournament. (I have voted 4 times on my computer.)

KLF Buckeye's picture
  1. Open Chrome incognito window
  2. Load page
  3. Vote Woody
  4. Close window
  5. Repeat

It takes a while for the vote count on ESPN to catch up, but the incognito voting is working.

KLF Buckeye's picture

Currently down by about 300 votes. Definitely within reach.

KLF Buckeye's picture

Yes, incognito definitely works. I just got Woody up to 49%, but alas I have other things to do today.

Urbanmania's picture

If it takes a while for the vote count to catch up, how do you know it's not just other people voting?

KLF Buckeye's picture

The tally on the vote page seems to have a bug in it. It actually went down a couple times after I voted. However, if you click on the "Discuss" link after voting you get the accurate tally. That tally went up as I voted and so did the percentage for Woody.

Lol, some douche-nozzle psu fan was complaining how pathetic people on here are for cheating on the Poll.

Yeah, well…that’s just like, your opinion, man.

KLF Buckeye's picture

Funny they should mention that.

Looks like PSU stuffing ballot box like we are...Probably gonna keep Joe Pa ahead.

Too bad so many people never appreciate the greatness of coaches that they never saw, excepting Bear Bryant whom people still worship for some reason.

Couldn't figure out where all these PSU votes were coming from....other parts of the world apparently.  Lol.

Click the link above, you can see the results for the other polls up until this point.

In every poll before this, the "international vote" was usually confined to approx 15-20% of the total.

For the Woody/Joe poll international voters account for 4000+ votes of 11,000 total, or 36%.  Quite a deviation...

My guess is that some PSU fans thought they'd be clever and use a VPN or proxy and setup some automatic voting bots/scripts.  Pretty lame they can't handle the truth.

Well, we know at least some of them know how to do what you are suggesting (https://bwi.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=36&tid=172147821&mid=172147821&si...). This is Chrome Incognito on steroids.
