Here are the Possibilities

Here's how the Buckeyes' B1G tournament seeding will shake out:

  • Ohio State defeats Michigan State today at the Schott and Wisconsin takes down Nebrasketball at the Trohl Center in Lincoln = Buckeyes are the 4-seed; get a bye on Thursday.
  • Ohio State defeats Michigan State and Nebrasketball survives the Trohl Center its own Senior Night = Buckeyes are a 5-seed and play the Northwestern/Purdue loser at around 3pm Thursday. The winner gets Nebrasketball on Friday.
  • Ohio State loses to Sparty = Buckeyes are the 6-seed and play the Northwestern/Purdue winner in the last game on Thursday night.

Got it? Got it. Beat Sparty, get some rest and go Wiscohnununun. [ahem] Go Wisconsissisdsdsifdsjuh. Go Bucks.

Go Sconnie. Sets us up for a good path to the Big Ten title game. I know, I know. Nebraska beat us. I know, I know, Michigan beat us. But I think we can beat both teams and end up in the final to be honest.

So I wonder next season how the tournament will be set up with 14 teams?

How is the ACC tourney set up? I'm assuming it would be something like that.

ScarletNGrey01's picture

Good point.  So, there may be a couple of "play-ins" meaning a low seed team would have to win five games to win the championship I'm guessing.

Not sure how ACC is set up, but it could just go to top two teams getting byes and everyone else has to win 4 games.

Found a Wiki page on it.

Wednesday: 12 vs 13, 10 vs 15, 11 vs 14

Thursday: Top 4 seeds get byes. 8 vs 9, 5 vs 12/13, 7 vs 10/14, 6 vs 11/14

Friday: 1 vs 8/9, 2 vs 7/10/15, 3 vs 6/11/13, 4 vs 5/12/13

It's pretty much set up like the NCAA tourney in a way.

Edit: I guess since we only have 14 and the ACC has 15 that the 10 seed would play the 7 seed on Thursday rather than playing on Wednesday.

Unfortunately I live in ACC country and it's set up exactly like the B1G tourney with the first four seeds getting a bye.  The ACC tourney should be just as interesting as the B1G tourney, another conference with a lot of ups and downs.

I thought Nebraska is the home team?

Word.

Only one loss for brasky all year at home.

You thought correctly. And you also "bothered to look it up" which is cumbersome and time-consuming. NERD ALERT.

Fixed. Thank you.

I'm torn as to what I'd rather see. While a 1st round bye would be great, a strong win against NW or Purdue could be a huge boost...

Is your name supposed to be Mr. Spray or Mrs. Pray? Just curious.

If we had 14 teams this year, this is what it would look like if the season ended today.

Wednesday: #12 Northwestern vs #13 Rutgers, #11 Penn State vs #14 Purdue

Thursday: #8 Illinois vs #9 Indiana, #5 Ohio State vs 12/13, #7 Maryland vs #10 Indiana, #6 Iowa vs 11/14

Friday: 8/9 vs #1 Michigan, 5/12/13 vs #4 Nebraska, 7/10 vs #2 Wisconsin, 6/11/14 vs #3 Michigan State

Or, it would be Nebraska (4) vs. Rutgers (13) and MSU (3) vs Purdue (14) on Thursday and only scUM and Wisconsin would receive the bye.

No way they they have Wednesday games without > 16 teams.

Nebraska pulling away so looks like a 5 seed. Not a bad thing. I think this team needs as much time as they can get on the floor.

Nebraska just won.  Good for them, they deserve the 4.  Too bad that couldn't be us, but they earned it and we didn't.

Go Bucks!
