I think this is more Illinois being vastly overrated than it is the Big Ten being good.

Road games in the B10 are always really difficult. Combined with how good the conference is this year the road games are downright grueling.

The Kohl Center, both Assembly Halls, Williams Arena, Keady Court, the Schott, and the Breslin Center are all tough places to play with ridiculous home-court advantages. The Big Ten road schedule can be downright grueling.
