be nice to see UC's program continue to develop... their new helmets for their bowl game are pretty sweet... have a feeling, with conference expansion, we will see UC and OSU in the same conference one day and an intrastate football rivalry (similar to a Tennessee/Vanderbilt) will happen.
Lol. No. Cincy fans are delusional. When they had the Sugar Bowl season with Brian Kelly, they automatically thought they were on the same level, as a university and football program, with Ohio State. That is just unbelievably silly. Good school? Yes. Not an awful football program? Yes. Close to the same level as Ohio State in either of those categories? No.
FYI-- one way to know you're on the same level as a top 5 football program in the country is to not have coaches use your school as a stepping stone. Relatedly, one way to know you're close to the same level as a university is to achieve AAU status. Cincy--though working towards it, and as stated a very good university--is not there yet.
I was really happy we beat UC in the tourney last year so we didn't have to hear any ridiculous squawking from Cincy fans about how their school and athletics programs were better than ours as a result of that one tournament win.
No- expanding into the same geographic region makes no sense financially. In the old days (and better days) geographic locale mattered, but in the new days it is all about TV markets. There is no reason to take a school in a TV market already in your footprint.
Cinci will almost certainly not end up in the B1G in the near future. They don't add anything market wise. I hope for their sake they get the ACC invite they have been looking for.
I like to see all Ohio teams/institutions do well.
Dr. Samuel Johnson is right about Olson Johnson's being right. And I'm not giving up my ice cream parlor, that I built with these two hands, for nothin' or nobody!
Now who can argue with that? I think we're all indebted to Gabby Johnson for clearly stating what needed to be said. I'm particulary glad that these lovely children were here today to hear that speech. Not only was it authentic frontier gibberish, it expressed a courage little seen in this day and age.
With our momentum skyrocketing and Notre Dame's resurgence they will start to see serious struggles with recruiting. They could potentially be the third school in their own city for recruits. Especially since B Kelly and Urban already has strong connections there and it's heavily catholic. I just don't see Tommy T being able to move them forward much. They couldn't fill their stadium for Rutgers or South Florida and I don't know how the university will justify expanding.
Theyd have to have 10 cent beer night, since they are one of the few to all such sales inside a college stadium... Although it would probably end like this.
The other one I watched this afternoon that cracked me up was this one... There are three or four of these on Hulu. Just Google "SNL Celebrity Jeopardy."
They really have no choice but to do this if they want to be part of a major conference. Nippert is one of the smallest venues in big time college football, and it's a sizeable hangup if they want to play host to big name teams every year.
Last I checked they got automatic bids to BCS games in 2009 and 2010 by winning a BCS conference championship. So, technically yes. And it's not worth it to point out that they lost both of those games, because that's irrelevant. There are many teams that have lost every BCS bowl game in which they've been.

Yep. I was at the game when UC clinched its Orange Bowl berth. The scoreboard flashed "UC is Ohio's only BCS team."

hm. that looks eerily familiar to this other building i know on the national register for historic places..?

Ditto. There is no future in which Cincy is part of the B1G. It would be good for all concerned if they were welcomed into the ACC, however.
Agree with both of these comments.

I agree with the comment above.

GO BUCKS
Nice big staduims are great, if you can fill them. Who exactly will fill that one?
"If you build it, they will come."
Nope, nevermind. That was about dead baseball players coming out of a cornfield. Nobody's gonna fill that football stadium.

Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
What's with all the blue and yellow-clad fans? Even in UC's wildest dreams they can't fill their own stadium?
Little Brother? Not so much. Little Second Cousin Twice Removed. More like it.
So what will they call their staduim? "The lil Shoe"?

Pure word association got me thinking about my favorite SNL sketch series of all time, Celebrity Jeopardy, specifically, this bit.
I can't get to sites like that at work, but I am guessing this might be Therapist?
Horsemen...
I'll take The Rapists for $200, Alex.
That's Therapists!

The turd ferguson skit is still the greatest
Yes, yes it is.
I don't get it. So this is a proposed new stadium design? By whom?
"There is a force that makes us all brothers, no one goes his way alone." --Woody Hayes
That stadium was actually designed by the Germans a long, long time ago... And Nippert means "a whale's vagina."

UC is home to "big time college football?" This is news to me.
