Suspect Urban understands all this and doesn't care. Ironic though that the award is named after 2 coachs who would never win it nowdays (though Bo would have in his 1st year, I guess).
Also ironic that they man's name who was recently removed from another B1G honorific trophy is the reason that PSU can't win that trophy and probably the reason that their new coach won this trophy

Woody would have won in 54,The B1G was a little more competitive when i was a young'en.Much more of a football conference then.Everybody just wants to play basketball now,course that's the fault of TOSU being so dominant for so long.We kinda beat the want to out of 'em.Such is life on the big stage.GO BUCKS!

Let's say Team A and Team B both go 12-0. Team A was a preseason top 5 team. Team B was expected to finish 8th in their conference. Which team's coach will more likely win COY?
This is precisely why it'll be so hard for an OSU coach to win this award. If ever there were a year that an OSU coach could win it, this year was it. However, that damn Penn State team just had to win 8 games after everything they went through...lol. Oh well. I want crystal balls.

What's funny is that State Penn went from a 10 win team last year to a 8 win team this year. Yet, BoB gets the infamous Kirk Ferentz Big Ten Coach of the Year award. That makes a LOT of sense.

To me it's ridiculous that Meyer didn't get it this year. I dont' care what Penn State and Obrien ended up doing. Penn State still wasn't that great of a team. They were what a 9 win team last year. So O'Brien basically maintained order this year. Granted, he faced some tough odds, but Urban completely turned things around. This team had 7 fewer losses than last year with the same players.
Well, actually, we lost 3 starting O-Lineman, top WR, and starting RB off of last year's team...so he did with a bunch of new players too on offense.
Nobody roots for Goliath.
Another one of the worst analogies in sports. "This is a real David Vs. Goliath matchup!". David won. So anytime a team is referred to as David, he's the favorite not the under dog. Quit being cute, sportscasters. Get some original materal.

its ridiculous bob won this award.... he merely maintained after losing to a mac team and not having the leadership to keep 12 seniors bcuz of a bowl ban... where as meyer took a 6 win team to a 12 win team, kept his seniors and lost to nobody. just another reason to play angry next year and go 14-0 and ask the sec and the haters how that tastes!

I'm actually okay with this. I rather the 12-0, the crystal balls, and the national limelight than a silly trophy named after the two best coaches out of this great university.

The B1G can keep their stupid awards. We want bigger things. The B1G COY award is a popularity contest for the losers. We aren't losers and Urbz could give two shits about being popular. Beating the crap out of the rest of the B1G is reward enough.
