Wonder if they go after Hazell before other programs do
In the next 2-3 years (I'm looking at you, Michigan) the BIG schools will let everyone know if they are going to go all in against the Urban assault or simply fold. If Purdue doesn't spend the money getting a name brand coach (it doesn't have to be top shelf, but no swill either) then they are letting everyone understand that being a pretty good basketball team is enough to make them happy.

Some of the Purdue blogs have chatter that they're looking at none other than Jim Tressel.
I love Tress, but he would get smoked at Purdue. The talent that can be drawn to Ohio State made his system much more successful than it would be at Purdue. Plus, I hear Bollman is busy elsewhere.
Bollman may not be busy anymore...
I think Tressel is a descent if not outstanding recruiter, he could do wonders in increasing the talent of Purdue. This isn't a school that needs to go 12-0 every year, a consistent 8-4 would make him a legend.
Also Spaziani got fired today too, so actually Bollman is totally free now.

I would say that there is a less than .5% chance that Tress would have any interest in the Purdue job. The man had his dream job at Ohio State, there's no chance he coaches another B1G school. I really don't think he'll coach anywhere again, he has a stress free job making six figures at Akron, I think he's a satisfied man at this point.
Enter Charlie Strong and Darrell Hazell into the discussion please.
why would you leave Lousiville for Purdue - he's no Lee Corso (indiana - close enough)? Look for Strong to go south - maybe Tenn?
Bloomington is at least 1000x better than West Lafayette.

Strong's going to get good SEC offers this season. No way does he take on a middling B1G program when he can score an Arkansas (his home state) or Tennessee (just like Michigan-post-RichRod; a historical powerhouse reeling after a failed "young gun" followed up a prominent, albeit aging, coach). Look for Hazell or even Kirby Smart to get a look.

I think the SEC is a little ridiculous with some of their expectations (Auburn, Ole Miss, Arkansas), but why does te B1G always settle for mediocrity? Since when should 5-7 be considered acceptable at Iowa? Or 7-5 (soon to be 7-6) at Wisconsin? Wisconsin should have ROLLED in their weak ass division this year, but they go 7-5? Bielema should be on notice. And how is 8-4 acceptable at AACC? They should win 9-10 games every year, period. The B1G is going to continue being mediocre until these AD's start accepting nothing less than excellence and all-out relentless effort. See: Ohio State and one named Meyer, Urban.

Unfortunately the fine folks in charge at Iowa gave Kirk Ferentz an insanely large contract. They probably can't afford to can him. Ferentz may be the most overrated coach in the history of organized tackle football.
