Does that helmet's finish look matte to people?

I didn't know what truncated meant. Now I do.

Sweet. I think of all the experimental unis they've had, these are by far the best.

I just want consistency.  It doesn't look like my team when they show up in new gear.

I liked last year's.  Thought they were pretty sleek.

I despise uniforms without player names on the back. It makes it a pain in the rear every year to learn all the new players.

There's no point to it. If you play like a team, that is obvious. If your players play like individuals, equally obvious. It doesn't really add anything to team unity at all.

UGH no that whole "no name" gimmick was just one more thing Self-righteous hypocrite and Child Rapist Aiding p.o.s. JOEPA used to cultivate the "holier-than-thou" aura amongst the PSU supporting plebes. "Look at us humble simple nittany lions with our ancient YMCA uniform design and NO NAMES and hard work blah blah" No thanks. 

Like, if we have never used names then ok whatever. Leave it as it is. But we have names now. No need to purposely take them off to make some false point about teamwork and selflessness etc. 

I agree, they almost are cartoonish, but I like that over-the-top visual impact.  It's much simpler than the chaos of Oregon's uniforms, which in my mind makes it that much more recognizable and eye-pleasing.  Sure, the stripes are almost comically thick, but at least they now have consistency across the entire uniform--it always drove me nuts that the stripes had differing thicknesses on the helmet, sleeves, and pants.

@onetwentyeight   Could not agree more. This is pornographic. I hate selling out tradition to Nike. Phil Knight is making millions defacing tradition, and turning "tough" football players into fashionistas who are just as concerned with which arm to wear one long sleeve on, or how many wristbands he should wear. I know I'll get downvoted for this, but as an assistant HS coach, typically those kids are fundamentlly poor players. Give me 11 tough kids who don't care what they look like, but just want to hit someone.  Maybe it's coincidence that "football fashion" has evolved from the "look at me generation", and that's why tackling is so poor.  I guess where theres money to be made....

I just think they serve no purpose. We say it's because thats what kids these days want b/c of Oregon and (assorted other examples). And we also seem to be saying (after reading this thread) that, "hey! they're not nearly as bad as (insert some other school's uniform abomination)" but that's just such a defeatist attitude to take. It's like we're already reconciled to the notion that Nike is gonna mess with our uniforms no matter what, as if it's an inevitability, and that well at least they look COMPARATIVELY ok. But I just don't understand what we gain from this. No recruit is making the decision on whether to attend OSU or not based on UNIFORMS. You go to OSU b/c it's OSU and b/c we have the best coaches and facilities and track record of NFL sucess and on the field dominance and tradition, etc. Uniforms are gimmicks for smaller schools or nouveau riche Football powers like Oregon. They NEED flashy, ever-changing uniforms to grab attention and stand out. But think about it. Who are they trying to grab recruiting attention FROM? Who are they trying to stand out FROM? The blue blood traditional powers. AKA US. They need those Oregon-style uniforms IN ORDER TO stand out from the OSUs of the world. Why would we jump on this bandwagon again? 

The last couple of years I just ignored the once a year 'look-like-a-fool' uniforms. Because whatever. But this is becoming a yearly 'tradtition' and it's beginning to annoy me. When will they stop? I'm not even opposed to tweaking the uniform as a concept. We can do that, but we should make tweaks that are permanent if we do so. Having these one-shot clown uniforms each year in the most important game just ... UGh. 

Before I get all the "OFF MY LAWN" jokes, I'm 24. I know how "kids" my generation think. I often personally think Oregon pulls off really cool uniforms (like the stormtrooper one, the chrome helmets, etc), but in context. The context for them is very different from us. We are not Oregon and they are not US. What works great for them shouldn't and doesn't work in our context.

if you think that uniforms ultimately make the team more or less successful, then you should be all for pro combat uniforms for every game. 

LOL, I'll take Nike giving us an alternate uniform to wear once a year over being Adidas'd 10 times out of 10.

Or Under Armor'd, for that matter. Trust me, we have the good life with Phil and Nike.

So far these have been my favorite. The most historically accurate(pretty much everything minus the facemask since they didn't have them in 1942).

I think I like this year's design even better though.

Chrome helmets make sense with the wide striping. I wouldn't expect helmet stickers on a chrome helmet, either (it'd totally undo the whole notion of a chrome helmet).

Also, chrome looks a lot better under the lights at night, which is too bad if they do go with chrome.
