If I understand correctly we'll still have 12 regular season games, so it shouldn't affect us much. What'll hurt us most is that we have 0 big OOC games scheduled next year, if what we're shooting for is to play in the BCS Championship game. Running a B1G schedule doesn't seem to be enough to put you in the Top 2 the way it used to.
Wow, how do we not go undefeated next year? And I'm usually in the "cool-your-homerism-jets" kinda fan. I said we'd go 9-3 this year. But I don't see a good team on the schedule next season.

Strength of schedule will be our biggest hurdle. I don't think we'll gain back true national support until we beat someone big in a BCS game. Here's hoping we're one of only two teams that go undefeated next year.
Last year The Game was 11/27. So 2013's game isn't all that late. Although considering it used to be in the 'teens' in November, I like having it later. I checked though, and Thanksgiving is the 28th in 2013.
Yep. If we had 2 bye weeks this year, Wisconsin would be the Thanksgiving game unless the season had started earlier.
It wasn't long ago that we were always done with the season the week before Thanksgiving. The fact that it could go to the week after (or later with the conference championship) makes me happy and should help eliminate down time before the bowls (remember close to 2 months off before the nat champ?).

Don't love it, don't hate it. It is what it is at this point, I just hope our (lack of) strength-of-schedule doesn't come back to haunt us next year...

Zzzzzzz....
2 bye weeks? is that right?
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
Yeah I guess we had two bye weeks even before Vanderbilt dropped us.
The first one is between the Northwestern and Iowa games and the second one is between the Purdue and Illinois games.
Wow. I didn't pick up on that before. I'll take two byes during big ten play. healthy healthy healthy.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
It's because we're starting in August, not September.

Well don't I just feel like the last to know. ......What's this talk of no bowl game this year anyways?
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
I didn't realize until this post that we have two bye weeks. Does this help us or hurt us?

Just a reminder that SDSU is moving to the Big East in football starting next season.
Probably a touch better than a MAC team.......

I strongly dislike that we're playing an FCS (D 1-AA) opponent.

We dodge Nebraska & Michigan State next year? That's definitely not good for national perception - better run the table in convincing fashion.
We only play scUM from that division every year, and we rotate the other teams.
EDIT: I do agree that the perception of our strength of schedule will not be good next season.
We'll play Sparty or Bill Brasky in December in Indy.

Not that much more boring than Vanderbilt.
Why is the TSUN game so late next year?

Because we are all getting two bye weeks, starting in 2013. Pushes the last game back by a week.
So then you ask, "Why two bye weeks? What good is that?!?"
Other than, "To slot the B1G Championship Game into a desirable weekend" I have no idea...
I'm more than okay with this. It's crushing me inside that after this week, I only have about a month of college football left.
