Andy Staples (outstanding writer/reporter), Chadd Cripe and Josh Kendall probably won't be getting Christmas cards from Columbus addresses. (pollspeak.com)

Why you shouldn't send your AP poll ballot at 3:34 a.m.: Screwed up and left off Ohio State. Fixed in power rankings coming out later today.
The Tenn-based reporter who voted Ohio State 5th, John Adams . . . it's actually not a bad ballot.
Adams appropriately leaves michigan out altogether, dropped UGA to 15th and Oklahoma to 16th, and slotted Wisconsin 22nd, which is about where these teams belong for now.
Adams has Clemson and Tenn high at 7 and 13, respectively, but these teams probably deserve it.
Obivously, it's all very premature and subject to major changes in the next couple of weeks.
I'll have to check Adams's ballot out fully. I'm more surprised with Scott Wolf's vote. He's usually voted OSU down as far as he can the past 3 years or so.
I did a pretty lengthy analysis on these polls a few years ago. The regional-conference biases were evident...and some areas of the country had more votes than others. Voters who represented non BCS qualifier schools had some of the oddest voting patterns. Others have actually published some of these analyses.

I don't get the Andy Staples vote. Is it sour grapes from Urban Meyer leaving Florida?
Ineligible for post season?
Level of opponent?
Slow start?
25 better teams?
I'm assuming one of thoes.
Incorrect assumption. See below.
Cripe has Ohio at 25 and Ohio State unranked... probably listening to brady hoke too much
Or...

Nice! Such an out of place mistake.
Agreed. Staples is usually a straight shooter when it comes to reporting and voting. He's the anti-Dohrmann...
I have to see more to rank them. A solid win over UCF will put them solidly in the top 20 IMHO.
vacuuming sucks
More important than where tOSU is ranked after week 1: Now Bob Asmussen can go hide under an elephant with his first place scUM vote.
Keep Calm and Ignore the Trolls.
Even crazier, a guy from Tennessee voted us 5th and Scott Wolf actually voted us 14th!!

I think its safe to say right now Ohio State is a top 10 team. Could be a top 5 team if they can improve. They have a real shot at running the table.
Texas State is 16th on a poll. Coach Fran is getting some love. Wow.
A 6-6 team in 2011 that is in their first season as an FBS program is 16th?
