UK Reaches Out to OSU

Kentucky basketball reaches out to OSU (and others) about having a game this coming season to fill the schedule. It's unlikely to happen. (yahoo.com)

I really hope this happens, always enjoy it when the Buckeyes schedule marquee matchups - both for football and hoops.

So from the article, it sounds like its not gonna happen cause they 'couldn't work out dates'. Yes, I know they're Kentucky, but I would think if OSU was going to play them, OSU would want a home and home situation, not just a one off game at either Rupp or Lucas Oil.

Exactly.

Kentucky wants the best of both worlds, with a guaranteed built-in advantage.  Even a "neutral" court game in Indy isn't really neutral.  UK basketball is like OSU football, and their fans travel in droves to see their team play roundball.

I'm glad OSU declined UK's proposition.  OSU is at the point where they have earned the right to basically pound their fist on the table and demand a home game in return, no matter who the opposition.

We'll play them at Rupp Arena in basketball (would be a good game) in exchange for their football team coming to the 'Shoe to get pounded.

I would accept that proposal.

I was really hoping they wanted to play some football.  But then again, why would they want to ruin that whole "we play in the SEC so we HAVE to be better than all the B1G schools" crap.

It is awfully annoying when Kentucky football fans (only about UK Fball fans, total) rep SEC football like they are a part of it..

My lil sister graduated from UK a few years ago and While she was there she used to rock her buckeye jersey on game days (true fandom knows no educational boundaries). I'm visiting her one Saturday to double the intelligent football people in Lexington.....and this happens.....

Her guy-friends (mostly UK baseball players) seriously tried to tell her that Mike Harline (yeah, Brian Harline's much less known, less recruited younger brother, and starting QB for UK) was better than Terrelle Pryor.

They Were dead serious.

Her epic (and the word epic is absurd) response was... "you all better hope they don't do drug tests here soon, cuz you're all high as fuck. On second thought, the only thing people could care less about than UK football, is UK baseball, so you're probably all safe".

If I weren't standing literally right beside her as this went down, I'd never believe it, and nor would I be giggling like a little school girl remembering how dumb they looked and felt as we high-fived and laughed incessantly in their face for the rest of the afternoon.

You gotta love the coattail riders in a conference.

As a Nashville resident, I can say that Vanderbilt fans are completely annoying as well (as are UT fans). But Vandy fans talk about SEC football and how tough it is to compete in the league and always bring up the argument that they can't go after the same recruits as the LSU's and Alabama's because of their academic standards (which is probably pretty accurate). And then they say, well we might not be first in the conference in football, but we are in GPA. But when the SEC wins, they chant like they were a part of it, like they helped Alabama win the NC or something. Drives me crazy.
