hopefully Nike used up all of it's creative powers developing us awsome pro combat jerseys for this year. Speaking of which, do we know what game they are breaking those out for this year?
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
I didn't like their old logo, but I REALLY don't care for the new Nike suggested logo. I agree with BRBRAND64, it just looks very Thomas the Tank Engine-like to me.
Maybe they should've put a face on the front of the train: the face of Danny 'Get used to it' Hope and his mustache.
I will say this, their mascot upgrade from last year (or year before) looked a helluva lot better than the old one. Supposedly the old one scared children. But there was enough backlash that I think they went back to the old one.
I'll tell you who needs a new logo & a refreshed uniform ---- Illinois.
Seriously, Illinois --- That's the best you can do? The word "ILLINOIS" underlined on a helmet.
Maybe they're too afraid of offending an Inidan tribe or something. It's just unappealing. At least change the font, or put an outline of the state of Illinois...or heck - leave it blank...anything is better than that big Illinois script.
and the blue one with the headdress is shopped in to the pic. it was made by one of those guys that "pro-combatted" every team in the league on his computing device.
The million dollar question (or whatever their deal with Nike is for) is 'Will these new logos and hemets make Purdue and Illinois any better on the football field?'
The sad thing is I don't believe the new Purdue logo will be ready until basketball season as it immediately went down with an ACL tear after being unveiled........
It's sad what NIKE is doing to these schools. Before we know is Penn State will have Lion tails on thier pants, with rhinestone collars.... football fashion has gotten out of hand. Tradition dominates. The schools with deep tradition don't need new uniforms to impress. Ohio State, USC, Alabama to mention a few don't need to be attention whores to land recruits.
Whats sad about this, is when we watch highlights of a college game in 20 years, we will all think back to how hideous this really was. Maryland, Oregon.... gimme a break.
I honestly hope Adidas becomes a bigger player in college uniforms. They tend to respect tradition. Notice the schools they carry. Notre Dame, Wisconsin, UCLA, Tennessee, Nebraska.... and they don't molest their tradition.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
Maybe in terms of football, but when it comes to basketball uniforms, I think Adidas' have become pretty out there. I mean the UC and Louisville wild animal print shorts and those very BRIGHT Baylor uniforms...
I don't what games or teams you are watching but Oregon has some of the best uniforms in the nation. As for your argument that OSU respects tradition in regards to uniforms, we ourselves have changed our uniforms in the past few years, look at the shoulder stripes.

Hopefully Nike "suggesting" re-designs doesn't become a trend. The Purdon't guys came up with a better logo than Nike did.

I haven't seen any yet, but I'm hoping that we get our own version of the "liquid metal" helmets that Oregon rocked in the Rose Bowl.

Utter crap. At least the old logo had a bit of a "Soul Train" vibe to it; this is more Thomas the Tank Engine minus a face.

But yeah... old logo is better.

I believe they're looking into this as we speak.
wow...good timing, Jason! It's about time, Illini -- hahaha

i mean...we have less on our helmet then they do lol
"Winter is coming" - Urban Meyer
I like the white helmets...

As Pro-Combat's go, that would be pretty awesome. I actually like Illinois' current uni's but that pic has some pretty solid work on it.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
The million dollar question (or whatever their deal with Nike is for) is 'Will these new logos and hemets make Purdue and Illinois any better on the football field?'
I think we all know the answer to that.
I think we can use Oregon as proof in this case. So they will be way way waaaay better until Willie Lyles gets found out.

Are we getting Pro-Combats again this year?
get rid of the illini script, you get the browns helmet with blue instead of brown. not happening.

Nice. Matt Painter and Robbie Hummell greatly appreciate your humor.
so does Robert Marve and Rob Henry

The new logo looks a little... um... phalic...
Is it a bong?
Banned from ATO since June 3rd 2PMish PST
Yes. It is a very well 'engineered' Purdue bong. It will be known as the 'Boiler-Bong'.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
Nike should make over Purdue Pete so he doesnt look like such a pedophile. Maybe send him to Penn State.
already working on it as we speak, but be careful what you wish for: they could look into brutus next

Those unis are nightmares of eye-rape at times. We don't need highlighter colors on jerseys. Some are cool, but there's just too damn many of them.
