What a sad situation. What should have been one of the best days of this kids life (signing a LOI to play major college football) will instead be spent in a courthouse facing a judge.
I hope for his part that the charges aren't true, but if they are I hope he gets nailed with the max sentence.
Thanks, I just saw it on twitter and wanted to pass it along. Sad day for the kid. Hope it's all b.s. and he can get his young life on track. Hopefully not a waste of potential.
Personal story: I made out with a girl my senior year of high school at a boozed up party whilst I had a girlfriend, bad thing to do. She offered the whole shebang that night and I refused (once my drunj-brain overcame the drunken..er..other brain), the next day she was spreading stories of forcible misconduct. Hell hath no fury etc. etc. Luckily there were many people who saw no such thing occurred and I threatened charges of slander if she continued to try to destroy my future out of scorn. She recanted her BS story once she realized it had no legs and my GF dumped me, as I deserved, and it was all very shitty. Yay!
I knew dudes who kept a tape recorder under their bed to nullify these type of accusations, they were so common, this was in the 90's. It's very sad people need(ed) to do this, but, there it is...
TL; DR: Lets wait and see. This story is fishy IMHO. I DO know being accused of that type of conduct if innocent is one of the worst things imaginable. Most men are raised to never treat a woman in such a way. Just a sad story. Ugh..

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Seems fishy. And almost everyone (unfortuanately) knows someone who has had false accusations of this type thrown at them. But you start shitstorms for saying things like that, generally.
Wait before we cast judgment, always the best approach.

This reminds me of the story that came out this time last year about the kid from Cleveland who was groping girls. It made headlines all over the place simply because he was an Ohio State recruit, which apparently made groping an even worse crime. Anyway, whatever happened to that kid? Did he still get a scholarship? Is he on the team?
The player you're referring to is Chris Carter and yes, he's still here on the team here at tOSU. I don't think there was enough evidence so they ultimately did not bring charges against him.
It's true... We really are a bunch of nuts!
Go Bucks!
This made me think of the same thing. Here's the PD article about Chris Carter not being charged, and the PD article about him signing his national letter of intent.
No one here knows shit about what happened in this instance. However, about the only thing worse than committing a rape is being accused of committing a rape that didn't actually occur. It happens, and yes, when it happens, it is "disturbing," to say the least. If this kid committed a rape, he deserves some serious punishment. But, if he did not...
Remember the security guard that was wrongly accused of bombing the olympics in Atlanta, a few years back? Anybody remember the four kids from Duke that were wrongfully accused of rape by a prostitute? They received death threats from some. And the irresponsible media just ran with it. They, the media, don't give a rat's ass if they are ruining someone's life or reputation.
And the courts are tipped in favor of women. From divorce court to criminal court. IMHO, there is very little justice in either. As a man, you are presumed guilty.

I am divorced and went through the family court system. I got no special favors believe me. I also am a survivor of a violent crime that happened in the '70's. The laws that protect victim's rights were not in place back then. The DA had to practically prove I was the victim. My personal life was allowed, who I dated, had I ever been arrested etc. It was if I was on trial instead of the POS who assaulted me. Things have changed dramatically of course, however to say that the courts have tipped the favor to women or that men are presumed guilty is simply not true.

The sequence of events described in that story seems unusual, to say the least. But at any rate, I do hope justice is served, however the chips fall.

I guess the academics was a sign of things to come, let's give his scholly to Diggs and get Neal in too lol we may have dodged a bullet here

vacuuming sucks
Awful.
Wow!
it never ends..this is the headline on CFT..."Former 2012 Ohio State recruit charged with rape"
Ya I always let people that rape me drive my car. I smell bs.
I have no idea if these charges have merit.

Some of the comments here are a little disturbing.

This is why I hate the media. Why put his name out if he hasn't been convicted of anything? You're basically ruining someones life without any facts.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Headlines and money. Sensationalist journalism at its best.
