It is interesting to me that "Coach" is obligated to do such radio and tv as required by the University, but is not compensated separately for it.

I don't read much into it, apart from the fact that OSU is carefully controlling its own media.

In long-ago times, coaches would supplement their (comparatively) paltry salaries with tv/radio appearance money.  It actually seems more modern as OSU has done with Meyer.

Although the Meyer document is just a memorandum of understanding to be followed by a formal employment contract, I didn't see anything about monies to be devoted to assistant salaries.  Michigan put a $2.7m-for-nine-assistants clause into Hoke's contract.  That may have been part of the original understanding that if Michigan was going to hire Hoke, it was going to be a sort of a package deal that would include Mattison, who came pre-packaged with Hoke (as wll as Borges, et al).

IMO, Urban NOT being the highest paid coach in the nation speaks volumes.

But Urban WILL probably have the highest paid coaching staff in the country...

About what?  This is about par with what Brown, Saban, and Stoops all make, and unlike them Meyer has yet to trigger a ton of the bonuses in his contract/get extended a million times.

So are the escalators that are built in standard, or does this seem to be written in order to avoid re-negotiations three years into the contract like so many coaches do?
