Hats off to another fallen hero from one of the great teams (the '66 Spartans) in Conference history.
What a great story Bubba and his teammates were, on lots of very big dimensions. Bubba wanted to go to (then-segregated) Texas. Duffy Daugherty went down there, and picked up some of the nation's prime football players. Thank you, segregation!
Bubba claims he never saw snow until his first winter in East Lansing; and that he wanted to quit that day and go home to Texas.
He was by all accounts that I know of a wonderful guy; liked and respected by temmates and opponents alike.
A staggering factoid: In the 1967 NFL Draft (Bubba's senior class), four of the top eight picks in the draft were players from Michigan State.
Here's to the biggest, baddest and toughest florist I have ever seen. RIP Bubba.
