This could be huge for recruiting IMHO.

Why do people automatically assume that vrable would be a good coach?  He has zero experience.  Sure he is a good player, but coaching is much different.  I would like to see someone who is a proven commidity, who is looking to take the next step.

I love Mike Vrable, but does he have the qualifications for this job?

I don't assume that he would be a good coach.  I assume that he would be a boon to recruiting, and hope that he would become a great coach.  It's a risk, but with the mass exodus of defensive recruits from the state of Ohio this year I would love to see the boost that it would give to recruiting defensive talent.

BTW, KCB, I am about to move to Kansas City.  What part of town are you in?

Well.. he did work in that camp recently with Fickell and apparently got rave reviews. Yeah, the FUNdamentals camp is for kids, but the fact that he just wants to be there and coach is a big part of what makes a good coach. I would also think that he must have gotten some kind of coaching-esque experience while mentoring younger players at OSU and in the NFL. Plus, he'll have Fickell and others for support if needed.

Yes, I think his experience is pretty immeasurable.  That doesn't always translate into being a good teacher, but he is a bright dude and if he dedicates himself to it I am sure he would be successful.

@Maestro.  I am in Johnson County.

Make sure you check out the club on Saturdays.

 www.kcbucks.org

It is an alumni club, but everybody is welcome to join.  I am from Youngstown and graduated from Kansas (The military brought me west).  But they love me just the same.

There are former band members that bring their instruments and play during the game.  It is an awesome experience on Saturdays.  Being a KU alumni is going to help me get tickets for the KU/Ohio State Bball game this year.

Similar story KCB.  From Cleveland, moved to Texas as a kid and have lived in middle America ever since.

Thanks for the tip about the kcbucks.  Funny thing, I just signed up to get email updates from them last week and can't wait to be at Old Chicago soon.  Great chicken nachos if memory serves correct.

My wife is a KU alum too by the way.
