Greetings fellow Warriors,
This is my first blog post as I finally emerged from the lurker role not to long ago so bare with me.
Now this all began a week ago after reading the Countdown: 8 days Article (http://www.elevenwarriors.com/blogs/remy/countdown-8-days-until-buckeye-football) mentioned a few times was the curse of the number 8 or to be more precise, the general unluckiness the number brought with it.
At that time I thought nothing of it, but just like a word you recently learn it started popping up all over the place, the number 8 continually popped up when referencing ill luck that had befallen the Buckeyes, so much that i felt an urge nay a need to do something about it. This Blog will contain (to the best of my knowledge) all the instances that this foul loathsome number plagued our beloved university.
1. National Championships
Now I know what you're saying "that's not 8" but how about the quest for number 8? 2006 the Ohio State fielded one of the greatest teams ever to don a Buckeye jersey....only for a disastrous outcome of which i will spare you the details that I'm sure you already know. Not only did the quest for championship number 8 stall two years in a row but also it began the SEC reign of terror, which if I'm not mistaken is at 8 years after this season (coincidence that we are pegged for another title shot this year? I think not!)
2. Perfect seasons ended by That Team
8 times has the perfect record of our Ohio state Buckeyes been blemished by that atrocity of a Team whose name shall not be mention. the most recent 1998.
3. Players and the number 8
This you can find in more detail from the above link but one observation of the unluckiness that plagues this number is the DeVier Posey saga, in a year we needed him most and finished with the most dreadful passing stats I've witnessed in modern Buckeye History, he was struck with an 10 game suspension for the actions of the 5 players from the 2008 recruiting class that had so much promise.
4. Consecutive victories over That Team
8 consecutive victories over that Team Up North was where it ended thank to the turmoil of the 2011 season.
note* Eight Captains this season hope to end this curse
-thanks for reading, I hope this went well, There were a few more points that escaped me at this time but these we're the ones that struck me the most. I would love to see any other facts that correlate with this Supposed Curse in the comments as I definitely missed a few
