Okay guys, Mark May was complaining about the officials in the OSU game today, which got me to think: Why don't we have an official Mark May thread? 72-0. Seriously. It's just one game. We didn't run up the score, they let us run up the score. He says Purdue deserved to win. Really? When you don't outplay the other team for the full 60 minutes, do you really deserve to win? OSU played well enough in the 4th and OT to deserve to win. We won. Purdue lost. Get over it, Mark. The only questionable call I see is anything you do/say on your twitter account. Grow up, seriously dude.
Also, does anyone else find it ridiculous that his "buddies" at ESPiN call him "MayDay"? It's a stupid nickname for a stupid personality. Lou Holtz has called him out multiple times for his obvious bias against the Buckeyes and it apparently hasn't gotten through his thick skull. I'm surprised that Mark May doesn't hold a similar bias against BYU for beating Pitt in 1984, a win which helped BYU win their only National Championship. What a hack, seriously.

I think some of it stems from Andy Groom calling him out on national tv after the national championship game in 2003. He had been calling for Miami to win by 31 or some other ridiculous number. Like most of the chuckleheads at ESPN, just May was more obnoxious than most.

Absolutely my thought too. This guy doesn't really believe some of the things he says. You can see the smirk on his fat head. There is a reason E comes before S in ESPN.
I think that May says some ludicrous things just to get people talking. It brings more attention to the show.
What calls would he have been referring to? Didn't Purdue only have like 2 penalties the entire game, with one PI coming at the very end? Also all of the reviews seemed to go their way.

Ironically, broadcasting companies will fine/fire on-air personalities for being homers, but somehow being a total hater of another program brings nothing. You'd think both are bad for business.

I really think that ESPN at least tacitly encourages his Buckeye-bashing. He moves the needle amongst the rest of the nation--because we're the most hated team out there (so he's basically preaching to the choir)--while drawing our ire (read: attention) at the same time.
He has his moments, but I think he's pretty useless as an analyst; he's really just there to play the straight man to Lou Holtz. He's a troll, and definitely not amusing enough to warrant feeding.

I agree with those who say Mark May my isn't even worth getting riled up about, but he says such lame shit & has a huge platform from which to say it. I admit it really bothers me. Last week when asked, he said Baxton Miller is in the 'top ten' for the Heisman chase - he just couldn't give the guy any credit....such biased shit & why??? Is it really because of 17 year old beating OSU put on Pitt??? Dammit, I've just wasted a bunch of time writing about him....

May says the officials called the game in favor of tOSU? What a joke! I can think of 2 huge plays off the top of my head that went in favor of Purdue...
1.) Braxton's fumble recovery which was slapped away and recovered by Short after it was clear that Miller had already had possession of the ball and was down by college rules. Not only was the ball awarded to Purdue but the officials never reviewed the play to make sure the call was correct.
2.) The blatant and obvious non-holding/tackle call on Noah Spence during the kick return for a TD by Akeem Hunt.
When it comes to tOSU, Mark May is a just one of many sour apples in a very B1G basket at the WWL and the only reply I have for him is, 72-0...

iSomeone already beat me to the point, but Mark May is employed for the sole reason for this thread...he's on there to piss you off. There are tons of buckeye fans, so they get involved in his blather by tweeting or bashing him on ESPN forums. ESPN.com gets their hits and he also appeases the buckeye haters, which there are plenty. Ensue debates for the masses. College Football analysts on ESPN are just like a soap opera. Why do you think Holtz and May are paired together? May gets our blood boiling and Holtz gives us our love...everyone is happy. Mark May doesn't have to be analytical or even make sense. He's on the show just to be a "heel". His analysis of CFB is about as professional as my 9 year old niece. Best way to deal with the jackass, turn on BTN or avoid ESPN. When Mark May pisses off Buckeye Nation, ESPN wins...now, we don't want either of those things, do we? Mark May, Skip Bayless, Trev Alberts, or Colin Cowherd are all basically the same personality. They can't be good sports journalists, so the best way for people to take notice of you is if you bash their team, or continually take on controversial subjects and make complete morons of yourself so people will argue with you.

Lets face it folks...he hates us and will always make up excuses and what not for why we win. He almost seemed on our side after the first couple wins and was talking up Braxton...not anymore obviously. This has to be the worst year for Mark May in his broadcasting history. Both OSU and ND have a chance at going undefeated and Pitt SUCKS A$$. Great times....I personally don't like ND as much as I used to when Lou coached for them. However, I'm rooting for ND and OSU to go undefeated just to spite May. Not to mention....wonder why
May didn't say much about the phantom block in the back for a safety??? That didn't seem like the refs were on our side there...Heuerman didn't even hardly put a palm on him...also...there's a 5 yard zone where a block in the back is void...that apparently disappears in the end zone.
