ESPN College Football Live Roundtable: Ohio State At No. 20 For 2012

UrbzRenewel informed me that only a couple of paragraphs and a link should be posted, so here is the edited entry.

ESPN is not shy when it comes to their lovefest with the SEC and hatred of Ohio State and the B1G. Nobody can convince me otherwise on either account — period, end of story.

So, as an Ohio State football fan and blogger, you won't be too surprised to know that I'm not a huge fan of ESPN — quite the opposite most of the time, in fact — however, I was surprised at their recent feature on, and ranking of, the Buckeyes for the upcoming 2012 season.

I think we can assume a lot of their "attitude change" toward tOSU has plenty to do with former ESPN college football analyst Urban Meyer, who is now in his first season in Columbus.

Michigan Fans On Twitter "Pretending" Urban Meyer Hire No Big Deal...

The last 24 hours have been amazing for Ohio State and for Buckeye fans, despite the team finishing the season with a 6-6 record, including a narrow 40-34 defeat to TTUN.

The pain of that loss to those hated skunkweasels has been cushioned, however, with the news that Urban Meyer has officially come home -- back to Ohio -- to do at Ohio State what he has done everywhere he's ever coached -- WIN.

At Bowling Green, Utah, and Florida, Meyer and his staff made each program instantly better, culminating in two BCS titles at Florida in 2006 and 2008 (unfortunately, Ohio State fans remember the 2006 title game all too well).

I actually know and follow a few Michigan fans on Twitter as well as a couple of UM sites, and from what I've seen, they are mostly saying the Meyer hire is not concerning to them, but I think we all know better...

Even a State Penn fan joined in and sided with the UM folks in hating on Ohio State and Meyer. If I'm a State Penn fan right now, I'm not showing my face or running my mouth to anyone about anything -- but, to each their own...

Here are some screenshots of their Twitter postings:

It's a safe assumpion that those tweets are just their collective defense mechanisms as they try to convince us -- and themselves -- that the "happy place" facade they have created in their own minds is real.

Sorry, but that place doesn't exist for fans of either of those programs -- especially not now.

Ohio State had a ton of well-documented ssues to face this past season -- the least of which was the youth and inexperience of these players. The expereince gained this season will prove invaluable going forward.

Urban Meyer has Ann Arbor and State Penn in the sights of his finely-tuned Wolverine and Nittany Lion killing Buckeye rifle, so enjoy your respective wins over the Buckeyes this past season...

Because from this moment forward, both teams are Dead Men Walking.
