Miss. State star could transfer to OSU...

http://tracking.si.com/2012/04/09/report-duke-ohio-state-among-suitors-for-mississippi-state-transfer-rodney-hood/?sct=cb_t2_a16

This looks like it could be another Ohio State/Duke battle, ala Tony Parker.

Rodney Hood --- one of the top freshman in the SEC last season for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, is transferring...OSU and Duke are the two biggest names who are interested.

Hood was one of the top freshmen in the SEC a season ago, averaging 10.3 points and 4.8 rebounds, starting 29 of 32 games. He is a 6'8'', 204 lb. guard/forward. He should have three years of eligibility left after sitting out a year.

I'm not sure what's up with Alex Oriakhi, the Connecticut transfer...he is definitely more of a power forward, at 6'9'' 240, but wouldn't have as much eligibility remaining.

He sounds exactly like Q Ross, physically at least.

yeah...and from the same state...was a 5-star recruit coming out of h.s. (#5 ranked SF in the country), chose MSU over 'Bama, Marquette, G-town, L'ville & FSU

He's also very close friends with Q Ross.  During the recruiting process two years ago, a coach in the know said the two were like "brothers."

They apparently played AAU together.  Only problem is that with both being the same size/type of player, it may be hard to fit both onto the same college roster and both expect to get time or contribute much.  Seems like an either/or type of thing, but if OSU can reel him in, I'm all for it.

True, but if I'm an elite basketball talent like Q Ross, I'm thinking that I finally got my shot and I'm about to blow up next year into a 17 and 8 type of SF, and then take my talents to the NBA at the conclusion of the 2012-2013 season.  Hood can't play during 2012-2013, so he could step right into the position that Q Ross anticipates stepping out of.  It's very possible that Q is sending him that exact message.  I'm not saying that Q is actually going to blow up like he might think he will, but I get these sense that these elite players believe in their skill more than anyone else and generally think they are the best player on the floor at any one time.

Hood is a good player with a nice jumper.  He's a fan favorite here in Starkville.  Haha, it would be bliss to be able rub that transfer in their face.

Exactly.  Guys as good as Ross anticipate leaving after a big breakout season.

I wonder if he even starts at dayton.  They typically have a bunch of guys his size who can shoot 3s.
