UNC PG Kendall Marshall Has Broken Wrist

Marshall broke a bone in his right wrist when he was fouled on a drive to the basket and knocked to the floor midway through the second half............The Tar Heels had already lost top perimeter defender and No. 2 ballhandler Dexter Strickland to a season-ending knee injury in January, leaving only freshman Stilman White to relieve Marshall for spot duty. If Marshall can’t go, the job would likely fall to White and versatile senior Justin Watts.

If he can't go I don't expect UNC to get past the elite eight.  Now is the worst time to lose a player to injury.

Yep, has to be tough for a PG to lose the ability to go one direction (assuming it's bad enough he can't dribble with it).  UNC hit with injuries, Cuse has Melo out, MSU without Dawson.  Hmm...UK the only 1 seed without some kind of personnel problem that I know of.

A lot of it depends on the part of the scaphoid that is fractured.  The scaphiod is a notoriously poor healer and is basically the slowest healing bone in the body.  Depending on the extent and location of the fracture he will be in a cast for a minimum of 2 months.  Surgery is likely and  I can't imagine a surgeon letting him play post operatively.

I thought I heard one commentator say that Cuse was working on the Melo problem.  Is there any possiblity that he will be back for this weekend?
