Good luck tonight to Thad and the boys...give Maryland a glimpse of B1G bball

chowoon97's picture

Good Luck to buckeyes.

Jonnferrell's picture

Man those terrapin warm ups look like a pinochle deck exploded.

"I'm still hungry." --Brady Hoke

skid21's picture

Just start the game already. Did ESPN really spend all that time talking about the football the Auburn player ran back for the TD? The friggening football?? GMAB.

buckguyfan1's picture

Bobby Knight... Still a Buckeye!

thekornidentity's picture

Great start for Q!

“Nothing that comes easy in this world is worth a damn.” -Woody Hayes

skid21's picture

Q on fire early.

skid21's picture

Amir just seems so slow and sloppy at times.

buckguyfan1's picture

I swear he is in slow motion.

William's picture

Interior defense is turrible right now, but Ross is making it rain.

brandonbauer87's picture

When Q has confidence like this, I'm not sure there's a better offensive player in the country.

William's picture

Marcus Smart and Jabari Parker are both better.

brandonbauer87's picture

Debatable. We haven't seen the best Q has consistently.

stevebelliseeya's picture

It's amazing to see how drastically different the perspective is of Ohio State in basketball as opposed to football right now, you just feel that in basketball we get respect 10x more than in football.

"We are eternal. All this pain is an illusion." - Tool

xrox's picture

When Bob Knight roots for Ohio State, you don't go against that.

KE's picture

Bobby Knight knows all there is to know about basketball. But he makes it sounds like you're listening to your grandfather.

brandonbauer87's picture

I'm really enjoying it actually. It's refreshing to hear insight without exaggeration.

KE's picture

I agree - he really is a tremendous analyst.

BassDropper's picture

I love it. Brings a different perspective to it.

DIRECTIONER

Youngbuck85's picture

This team can be very good...

Mute's picture

Woohoo, points!

buckguyfan1's picture

I'm ready for a Sam Dunk.

brandonbauer87's picture

I like Thad's call of leaving in Ross and pulling Lenzelle.

hill1127's picture

We are apparently only scoring in threes tonight

buckguyfan1's picture

That look by Thad is gold.

Braxton2Devin's picture

Della Valle has proven me wrong; a couple games back I said that he was a bad 3-pt specialist.

KE's picture

ADV is a great offensive player, but watch him closely while he's on defense. He is a liability on defense.

hansman's picture

Are you serious with how well Q and the entire team has shot from three point range in the last two games?!?!

skid21's picture

We have some problems inside.

hansman's picture

If we could keep them out of the paint we would be up twenty instead of ten right now with the way we are ripping the net from three.

brandonbauer87's picture

Officiating has really killed the flow of this game. Since the last TV timeout, this has been dreadful to watch.

hansman's picture

Agreed....the new rules a.k.a. free throw contest has killed it in pretty much every game I've watched this year so far.

buckguyfan1's picture

We could use Adolphus Washington on the inside.

hansman's picture

The steal on the backdoor and the reverse three point play at the other end!

SweetBabyJames's picture

scott's inside and outside scoring is glaringly weak in comparison to all of his other amazing skills

Braxton2Devin's picture

Basketball is turning into a pussy sport. Way too man phantom fouls and love taps that are called for fouls

Mute's picture

Jesus christ these fouls

Braxton2Devin's picture

Still no progression with our free throws

hansman's picture

"It's not nearly as smooth as his three point shot"- Bob Knight
Maybe because that was Williams at the line that time and not Q.

skid21's picture

That was Q just at the foul line.

hansman's picture

It was that time. It wasn't on the shot right before that where he also said it.

Mute's picture

FREE THROWS
PLEASE

Braxton2Devin's picture

Lol another bonehead play from Amir

skid21's picture

Slam the Man!!!!

SweetBabyJames's picture

scott's passing aint too bad

thompson can fly

xrox's picture

MORE SAM! I REQUIRE MORE HIGHLIGHTS

brandonbauer87's picture

I'm gonna miss Slam when he's gone.

brandonbauer87's picture

I know hating on Amir is trendy, but he's greatly improved. He's more authoritative with the ball, and can be a presence inside defensively. On defense he's definitely over-pursuing the shooter, but that's a lot better than the lack of effort we're used to seeing.

skid21's picture

I remember Smotrycz from his time at TSUN. Can't get that stink off of you easily.

ShowThemOhiosHere's picture

Same douche?  I figured he'd be long gone working somewhere.  I knew I recognized the name from somewhere.

Class of 2010.

Braxton2Devin's picture

Awww did the 6'10 270 lb man just get bumped!?! Give him 100 free throws!!!

Braxton2Devin's picture

Lol how did Amir miss that shit

hansman's picture

I don't really want to be critical when we are playing so well on the offensive end, but what are we going to do this season when we start facing huge dudes inside and Amir gets in foul trouble? We're looking way undersized inside and having been doing much to stop them even with Amir and McDonald.

hansman's picture

Just to clarify, this isn't an Amir hate comment since I think he has been MUCH better on the offensive end and with his rebounding. It is more about whether he will be able to stop guys that are his near his size or bulkier.

bgohio22's picture

The Buckeyes will likely lose in that case. I see a team that plays amazing on-the-ball defense + can score in transition. If hot from outside it'll be tough to stop (as we see tonight). If cold against a team with legit bigs--trouble.

skid21's picture

Q doing it at both ends tonight

skid21's picture

I'm always amazed at how much they have always talked about Craft's personal life. You don't see that with any other OSU player.

Mute's picture

Aaron Craft in a nutshell right there

tdible2132's picture

I like Lenzelle Smith Jr. and all, but is it just me or do we always go on big runs when he is on the bench? Seems like a common/obvious trend over the past few years...

brandonbauer87's picture

Yeaaaaa, he's basically David Lighty without the stellar d and poise on offense. So....you get my opinion right?

Braxton2Devin's picture

Lol you clearly havent watched much Buckeye basketball this season then. The guy has carried the team on his back at times, and his consistently become a killer from the three point line

hansman's picture

This^ You said what I was trying to. I was more agreeing with them on this particular game (minus the sweet 3 point reverse play after the backdoor steal) and last year. There have been some stretches this year where he was the only one making shots. Now, everyone is heating up.

brandonbauer87's picture

I've watched every televised Buckeye game. I'm not going to argue about him. I've never been a fan of his. He's a great Buckeye and has been a great representative of the university. I just don't care for his game.

tdible2132's picture

Couldn't agree more BB. Not a fan of his game, but a fan of his as a person for sure.  He's certainly no slouch either, just think the team sees a drop off with him on the floor.  It's happening again to start this half...

tdible2132's picture

And I'm just nitpicking. Nothing major at all.  Smith has definitely carried us in a few games, but against poor competition. He's not a guy that can carry us in big matchups, although he is a solid overall player that does the little things which shouldn't be understated.

hansman's picture

I can't say I disagree with you guys, but he has been shooting the ball pretty dang well so far this year and we know Matta always likes to give his best defensive guys the most minutes.

stevebelliseeya's picture

wow

"We are eternal. All this pain is an illusion." - Tool

OSU069's picture

Nice move Thompson. Our offense is really playing well today.

dja.ohio's picture

Wow, solid first half across the board. 3-point line on fire. Highlight dunks. Hard D.

hansman's picture

And a great finish to it!

hansman's picture

Maybe we were overreacting....it did show that points in the paint are equal so far.

TilstheHun3's picture

Winston investigation results due tomorrow... press conference at 2 PM

What is this? A center for ants?!? How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read if they can't even fit inside the building?

rdubs's picture

How have we not recruited over LSJ yet?

DLJad's picture

Big, tough rebounding teams will provide challenges this year.

skid21's picture

I agree. Amir has improved but he is still sooooooo slow to the ball and making decisions with the ball.

Unky Buck's picture

Agreed Skid. I really like seeing how he has improved, but his decision making is still lagging. But with the strides he has made, hopefully that's not too far behind. Right now, with our defense in general, if he can at least maintain in the paint and provide some solid offense, I'd be more than happy with that.

...

brandonbauer87's picture

A lot of the defensive rebounding problems come from the entire team trying to block every shot.

DLJad's picture

Knight calling out Williams for riding the refs?!

hansman's picture

hahahaha.....I was thinking the same thing. Of all people, he is going to talk about someone complaining to the refs?

DLJad's picture

That's akin to China calling out the Vatican for human rights violations.

Braxton2Devin's picture

Give up way too many O-rebs

Mute's picture

Craft's jumpshot is hideous

hansman's picture

Lenzelle's isn't looking much better.....at least not today. I guess I should have waited before I complimented his good shooting this year. I jinxed him.

EnlistedBuckeye's picture

Im with you there, but the kid is a nightmare for opposing teams. His attitude is infectious and he makes all those little plays you need to win close games. His offense needs some work ie that jump shot and his ability to go left needs work. But what he does on defense and in effort isnt something you see much anymore.

Bradyhokescholesterol's picture

No ripping on Amir! If you hated in year one, i get it. If you did it in year two, I get it. If you're doing it now, you have lost your mind. He was 7 feet tall in HS. No one taught him to play in the paint, he's starting to get it done, bottom line. The kid could be huge for us this year, and I think he needs our support to get us where we want to be. Amir, if you read this, keep it up, you're getting better every time I watch you hoop. All the haters can get out.

Squirrel Master's picture

inthink he is doing awesome. all i was hoping for is that he not foul and stay on the court. then maybe keep this team a decent defensive team.
but now he is doing all that and adding some more. plus the fact he is not horrible at free throw line means he can be on the floor at the end. they can't hack him.

I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!

hansman's picture

Like I said above, you can definitely see lots of improvement in his offensive game and rebounding on both ends. I just hope he can make the same improvement with his defense on bigs his own size and bulkier.

Bradyhokescholesterol's picture

Old boy will be fine. He was a McDs All Amer. that's a stout place from which to begin your collegiate career. I feel like we harp too much, as a fan base, on immediate production. He'll be excellent for us into Jan, Feb, MARCH!!!!!!!, and potentially next seAson. O-H!!!!

Unky Buck's picture

There have been doubts here and there for me at the start of this year with some really inconsistent play, but it seems like it's been coming together the last few games. This team is starting to really solidify itself as a Final Four/NC contender. It's going to be a FUN year of basketball!

...

DLJad's picture

Amir's nose bleed May not be covered by the ACA.

hansman's picture

He almost hit the rafters on that one!

ShowThemOhiosHere's picture

Slam with the hat trick!

Class of 2010.

DLJad's picture

If only someone on the CBJ could do the same.

Unky Buck's picture

Craft may be my favorite player on this team, Thompson is quickly gaining ground. It's so much fun watching him take flight!

...

redfox's picture

Craft holds this team together.

Unky Buck's picture

Absolutely. Without his defensive intensity, I'm not sure our team would be where they are on that end. It's infectious and it's why I love his play. But again, Sam...that's just freaking fun to watch.

...

Knarcisi's picture

They way we play defensively will allow us to play with anyone.

hansman's picture

McDonald showing the skills!

hansman's picture

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hansman's picture

Slam's been flying more than Delta tonight!

ShowThemOhiosHere's picture

GRAND SLAM!!!!!

Class of 2010.

hansman's picture

Nice......each dunk counts as a run, correct?

Mute's picture

When this team plays like this they can beat anybody

skid21's picture

Awesome pass by Scott

OSU069's picture

Slam Thompson!!!!!!

ShowThemOhiosHere's picture

LMAO I thought for a minute that they said Craft got called for a T.
I hear you can get T'd up for bad language on NBA 2K14 on Xbox One/Kinect.

Class of 2010.

DLJad's picture

It's great to see several guys playing/contributing.  In about 3.5 weeks, only 7 guys will need to remove their warm-ups.

brandonbauer87's picture

I think this team will play nine pretty consistently.

hansman's picture

Should we see if Slam wants to throw on some pads Saturday?

DLJad's picture

Only if he can play in the defensive backfield.

hansman's picture

I was thinking wide receiver but you are correct sir. The help would be far more appreciated there. Put him in at safety!

skid21's picture

UNC-MSU next. It is just going to seem unnatural to root for Sparty this week, even if it is hoops.

OSUNEA1986's picture

Let's not and let the chips fall where they may... No sense it confusing the Sports gods.

Mute's picture

I swear OSU makes freethrows look like the hardest thing in the world

brandonbauer87's picture

It's pretty common throughout college hoops. Shooting 70% or better is purely effort. There's a reason they're called free throws.

EddieG27's picture

This is the most consistent looking bucks team at the start of the season since thad got here

ShowThemOhiosHere's picture

45-38 with a minute to go at UVA #WisconsinBasketball

Class of 2010.

Mute's picture

Virginia is basically Wisconsin East so that score isn't very surprising

NCBuckeye2011's picture

48-38 final, haha when I saw it I was in disbelief...but then I remembered the badgers were playing

DLJad's picture

I thought 'Bron was in Mexico City and tossed too much pre-game dust.

hansman's picture

There ya go Lenzelle!

ShowThemOhiosHere's picture

97 wins needed to clinch the challenge.  Get a little round robin going I guess?

Class of 2010.

hansman's picture

Solid win.....and we still have two undefeated top five teams!

dja.ohio's picture

That was entertaining.

Unky Buck's picture

Great win and hopefully this gets the B1G rolling a little bit tonight.

...

hansman's picture

Is Wisconsin the only road team to win so far?
