Dual boss stage.

It was a sweep for Buckeyes as Carlos Hyde captured the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and Ryan Shazier captured the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week awards following Ohio State's 60-35 win over Illinois Saturday.

Hyde, a senior from Naples, Fla.:

  • Rushed for a career-high 246 yards, the fourth-most in Ohio State history, and scored five total touchdowns in the Buckeyes’ road victory over Illinois, becoming the first Big Ten player since 2010 to score five times in a game
  • Averaged 10.3 yards per carry and rushed for four touchdowns, including runs of one, eight, 51 and 55 yards
  • Also had an 18-yard touchdown reception and totaled 272 all-purpose yards in the game
  • Records the third Offensive Player of the Week award of his career and second this season
  • Last Ohio State Offensive Player of the Week: Braxton Miller (Oct. 28, 2013)

Shazier, a junior from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.:

  • Recorded a career-high 16 tackles that included 1.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss in the Buckeyes’ road win at Illinois
  • Forced a fumble on a third-quarter sack, which led to an Illinois safety to give the Buckeyes a 37-21 advantage
  • Leads the conference and ranks among the top 15 in the nation with 1.45 tackles per loss a contest
  • Claims his fourth career Defensive Player of the Week honor and second this season
  • Last Ohio State Defensive Player of the Week: Ryan Shazier (Sept. 16, 2013)

What does it matter being the best player in the B1G.  Everyone sucks in the B1G.
Good on ya fellas.  Congratulations and keep kicking names and taking ass.

Surprised Cam Johnston didn't get special teams player of the week maybe 6 punts averaging 57 yards/punt and 3 inside the 20 with a long of 71 yards is only impressive to me

if that 1 hadn't been returned he probably would have been.

Agreed. I said to my wife at the time, "Dammit, his team just cost him the Ray Guy Award."

Shazier would have had recovered that fumble force for a TD had he not gotten up from the pile, assumed that someone else got the ball, and run to the sideline celebrating.

He's an awesome player, that was a great hit, but I did kind of laugh at that myself.

Wait, I'm confused.  Shouldn't be it be Scheelhaase on offense for nearly engineering the upset, and well, anybody on the Illini defense for holding the Bucks to 60?  I mean, you can't count those last two OSU TD's, anyway, right?

Italics are for emphasis.

Both Shazier and Hyde had career days! Hard to lose when Hyde's fueling OSU's high flying offense like that and RDS is shutting them down on the other side of the ball.
Scarlet tinted glasses set aside, I think Johnston's resume this week is as impressive (if not more) as the UM kicker they tabbed as special teamer of the week. The only thing that gives scUM's kicker the nod is they lose without any of his 3 kicks. God knows UM can't get a TD against a team with a defensive pulse.
Johnston's line for the game was 6 punts for 342 yards, 57 avg, 3 inside the 20, & long of 71. To think he's only a freshman!
And Bosa was on pace to at least contend for freshman of the week honors with his 2.5 sacks before his injury. Wiscy's Clement got the honor running for 100+ and 2 TDs against Indiana. Johnston could've easily nabbed this honor as well.
Both games were blowouts but Clement's doesn't look as impressive considering almost 4 Wisky players reached 100 yards on the ground en route to 554 total rushing yards. Still Clement seems to be the next off the Wiscy RB production line and he'll be the #2 RB once White leaves.

Speaking of ttun's kicker, don't the kickers have to be set before the snap? he was CLEARLY moving when the ball was snapped on that last field goal...

Who votes for these things? I cry foul! There is some definite bias going on here!

Props on the "dual boss stage" alt text.
El Guapo could have broken 3 bills if we would have rode him a little more in the 2nd half. Dude has been an absolute monster lately.
RDS quietly going about his business. Dude is having an awesome year. If he played in the $ec, he'd get a lot more love nationally. 4 sacks in the last 3 weeks (at least a sack a game since Urb said "he's one of the best blitzers in the country). I look for that trend to continue.

So you're telling me that Ryan Shazier is kind of good...hmmmm.

Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.

Hyde went all out Marshawn Lynch beastmode on the Illini. That was impressive.
