USC Upsets Stanford

A week after Stanford pulled the upset against Oregon, USC kicked a late field goal to beat the Cardinal, which is good because they're out of the BCS Championship picture now.

Although we wouldn't have done it, we'll allow the field rushing, Trojans.

Now ESPN can stfu about Stanford going to the BCSNCG over us.

Stanford didn't play Stanford football in this game.  I think they should jump tOSU.

Actually, Georgia and Florida should jump us too, because they had some injuries this year. And they both came just "this close" to beating Vandy this year.

Amazing how firing Lane Kiffin was all USC needed to start playing better.

The players quit on Kiffykins weeks ago.

A 2 loss Stanford will jump OSU if IIndiana even shows up to the game next week.

Great game to watch.

You can feed a bobcat all the chili it wants. That don't mean it's going to crap out diamonds.

Obviously, this means USC should jump Ohio State in the rankings.

Looks like we may have a potential rose bowl date w/Oregon now

We need to take care of business on our end and see how things work out.  Oregon is in control of their own destiny in the PAC12, and would apparently host the CG if they get in it.

In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...

The pressure mounts down the stretch.  OSU was able to win today on the road while not playing their best.  Stanford not so much.
One week at a time, baby.  One week at a time.

USC looked like a dog that had been tied up all year and was finally let loose.  They were flying around the ball and pulled out a win.  Nice to see the FG kicker make a game winner after 2 crappy years.

can't wait to hear about the next team better than tOSU

....and that would be Baylor
The whole world's gone f'n nuts.

All politics aside (because to be perfectly honest, I'm so burnt out on that aspect of the CFB season that I needed a solid reminder as to how fun the game is supposed to be) that was an incredibly fun game to watch.  Enjoyed the hell out of it.

Dairy-fed intellect and pure, unhinged sass.

USC was better than Ohio state plays so by the transitive property Stanford will be #3

Up until now they weren't playing USC football because they had Lane Kiffin.

Chizik and Kiffin have been expposed as the piss poor coaches they truly are. any FBS power school that would hire these two idiots after what has transpired, needs to have their heads examined.  USC apparently is targeting Sumlin, which could be a mistake.  I would like to see what A&M would be like once Johnny Football is gone.  Dont think A&M would be a .500 team.  Sumlin should jump at the $6 million job as soon as the season is over.

Agreed. I don't get why everyone loves Sumlin so much. He freaking had Manziel as third string at the beginning of last year.

I wasn't born a Buckeye but I became one as fast as I could.

I watched the first half of the game, and that USC defense was scary. For the life of me, I do not understand why Tennessee fans were so upset when Kiffin left.  I wonder what Kiffin thinks of USC now and what he's doing these days?

Buckabroad's picture

Probably counting his money. Why everyone loved him up until the past few years is beyond me.

Never thought I'd ever say "well done, USC", but here I am.

Well done, USC.

Oh.....what was this about Stanford football again?

Ohio State football......10-0 (22-0 for those interested).

Am I the only one here who found themselves watching that game and seriously rooting FOR USC for the first time in their life?   I actually thought it was cool them rushing the field...it had a "we're back" feeling.
This morning I'm soooo over that.  Back to hoping USC loses out.  I still think it's funny that the team that beat Stanford lost at home to Washington State earlier this season.  PAC12!! Mighty PAC12!!

bucksfan92's picture

I was listening to it on the radio driving back home from watching a high school playoff game and yes was surprised, and felt dirty, that I was actually pulling for USC to win.  As a little kid in the mid '70s I was brought up to hate that school up north first and Southern Cal second.

I was just reading about Lane Kiffin's career stats, and I had completely forgotten he coached the Raiders before he was at Tennessee. It reminds me of the story from a while back about the couple who just kind of wandered into the White House for dinner and nobody noticed. How did this numbskull con his way into an NFL head coaching position? How and why did anyone think this man was capable of winning football games under any circumstances?
