Joshua Perry Undergoes Surgery on His Hand

November 4, 2013 at 9:59a    by Jason Priestas
Josh Perry suffered a hand injury against Purdue.

Ohio State linebacker Joshua Perry underwent surgery for his finger this morning and is expected back following the Buckeyes' bye this weekend.

Although Perry went down with an injury at Purdue Saturday, this surgery addresses a lingering pinky finger issue. Perry confirmed in a message to Eleven Warriors that he should be OK for the Illinois game on Nov. 16.

Rest up and heal, Joshua!

Must have been a hell of a dislocation to require surgery. I've always seen stuff get popped back into place, which is what I did when I dislocated my thumb.

Regardless, get well soon!

Depending on which joint was dislocating his rehab will go well into the offseason.  People will assume this injury is absolutely no big deal, but it will affect him more than most would suspect.  Your small finger is critical to having a good grip.  The finger will be supported and likely buddied to the ring finger which will affect his grip and his dexterity.  Controlling pain and swelling less than 2 weeks post op will be a chore.  Heal well young man.

Will he need more than a pinky against Illinois?

Glad to know he can still drink tea like a BOSS!

"No. You're an idiot, and your posts are terrible."

Don't let this change your tackling style... Get some rest this week fella. You're doing great.

Still hating the bye week, but glad Josh and some of his other dinged up teammates have a chance to heal up.

We have filled the Braxton Miller position.

Hope he has a speedy recovery and glad surgery went well!!

Can't they just remove the pinky and then reattach it after the season?  Seems like that would be the smarter option.  :)

He looked like it hurt like hell on a play at Purdue.

Does this mean (Joe) Burger time?

A man got to have a code...

Burger plays MLB, Perry plays OLB. Guys like Trey Johnson and maybe Cam Williams would come in for Perry. Remember also that OSU's defense runs out of the nickel fairly frequently, and uses an extra DB rather than a 3rd LB.

I hope the surgery was VERY minor. And I hope the best for a quick recovery.
