Ohio State, returning four starters from a team that just missed a Final Four appearance last season, has been picked to finish 3rd this season in Big Ten men's basketball by a panel of conference media. Michigan State was picked to win the league, with Michigan expected to finish 2nd.

OSU point guard Aaron Craft was named first-team preseason All-Big Ten, joining Penn State's Tim Frazier, Michigan State's Adreian Payne and Gary Harris, and Michigan's Mitch McGary and Glenn Robinson III. Harris was voted preseason Big Ten Player of the Year.

Coverage of Big Ten men's basketball media day kicks off at 9 a.m. today on the BTN.

I think people are too high on Michigan. They get some credit for playing so well last year but Burke alone is a huge loss. McGary hasn't been able to stay healthy and I think they lack a leader.

I agree. McGary and GR3 are good players, but they are better as a supporting cast guys. Michigan has a huge hole to fill by losing Burke, who created so much offense for that team. They have a freshman PG coming in, and Spike Aldrecht, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say they struggle in a league with Craft, Appling, Frazier, and Yogi. I see Michigan as a top 20 team nationally, but am a little surprised that many are picking them in the top 10.

I can't wait to see Aaron Craft and the guys back on the hardwood!   Craft plays with so much heart and so much energy!  Fun to watch!   Go BUCKEYES!

I will expect them to reign supreme until proven otherwise.  3rd, F that.

I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.

OSU will surprise ppl this year in BBall.

Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.

Bullshit.  We're going to win the whole thing.  Cause we are the Buckeyes...we are KILLER NUTS!!!
Payne is back AGAIN?  Shit...and Harris is pretty good.  Sparty will win the B1G if OSU doesn't.  TTUN is again overrated though will possibly beat OSU in AA due to refs yet again.  But of course OSU will beat them in Columbus and the B1G tourney if they get the chance.

Wasn't Payne on Sully and Craft's AAU team?  He's from the Dayton area...

I haven't heard anyone predict Ohio State to finish third, only second to Sparty for the most part.  I understand the preseason rankings for AP and Coaches have us behind them, but I am not buying it.  At least these two outlets that cover B1G basketball mostly have us in front.

I think the buckeyes are a little overrated. We have no scorers but Ross.

Scoring is certainly a concern, but I think we'll be okay. A key for this team will be to create turnovers and get buckets in transition. With Craft, Scott, Thompson and Smith, we should be able to put a lot of pressure on teams on the perimeter. Thompson made big strides offensively last year, and Craft and Smith will be solid. The coaches have also stated that Scott looks great shooting the ball. Also, Loving is an absolute stud. Kid is going to do big things at tOSU. Trust me.

I agree about scoring not hurting us too badly.  Craft is a lock for 1st Team Defensive All-American.  Smith Jr, Scott and Thompson aren't exactly slouches either. I'm sure Amir will have improved his post defense (we all surely know that he can swatanga the crap out of anything weak around the rim).  We won't be giving up very many points this season gentlemen.

Well, they were picked third so...no reason to even play. Pack it in boys - someone has made a prediction.
