Nevin Shapiro, lmao.

Hmmmm. I figured those papers had gotten lost in the mail. Will be interesting to see what happens. (In case you forgot, here's a rundown.)

Expect to be underwhelmed.

I'm already expecting the expected.

Expect guaranteed to be underwhelming.
Fixed that for you

Hope they get a bowl ban to keep us from further exposure to Al Golden's huge shirts

They'll announce that due to the NCAA's incompetence, all violations have now passed the statue of limitations and there will be no punishment.

When you're holding a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

buckifishr's picture

And USC will appeal their sanctions again.  And will lose said appeal again.

statue huh?

Perfect position for this Maestro, couldn't have worked any better!

I will blame this one on bad sleep after my 4th overnight shift.

Maestro's picture

Apparently having a job that you actually show up for and getting paid a couple bucks extra is worthy of a 5 game suspension and using a coach as your personal ATM is only worth 2 games............so I will just go ahead and guess that the NCAA awards Miami with a gold star and a JD Power Award for the Best Jailhouse Story.

vacuuming sucks

I don't know why Miami should be punished.  It's not as though Nevin Shapiro was a staff member or anything.

Serious, or sarcasm font?

Sarcasm. I only use the sarcasm font when I think it isn't completely obvious that I am being sarcastic.

Also, this happened in Florida, so Urban must have had a hand in it.

DaiTheFlu's picture

You guys are forgetting the most egregious of all violations, the "rigged raffles". Alabama's coach may have had some of his players on the payroll, but by god, they didn't rig raffles so that recruits would win the giant stuffed bear instead of the plastic handcuffs. That in and of itself deserves its own full length investigation by a credible sporting news outlet.

What's that, you say? That already happened? Hmmm...

We can't stop here; this is bat country...

buckifishr's picture

I thought you were being serious right up until you used the word "credible".  Well played.

Probation, followed by an announcement that Miami has worked out a deal over the last 2 years to move to the SEC.

So tired of Cryami...give them something to cry about, NCAA.
Yeah, not holding my fucking breath on that one.

Class of 2010.

causeicouldntgo43's picture

That's alright. We gave them something to cry about in January of 2003 and they have never recovered. Have you ever seen a program that was on a 3 year winning streak break so bad so fast for so long?

d1145fresh's picture

Something tells me the NCAA is going to bring the hammer on this one. I think anymore the NCAA is ok with random violations they just don't like when schools try to lie and cover up things. And if one school has done that it is the U. Two year bowl ban and 4 years of reduced scholarships is my thought.

buckguy10's picture

They have already self banned for two years (when they stunk and would have went to a shitty bowl anyway). So two additional years on top of that?

d1145fresh's picture

Yes two on top of that. Although I could also see the NCAA allowing this years team to go to a bowl game then the 2014-15 years because ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ its the NCAA.

bucks22's picture

I also think that a year or 2 of an additional bowl ban should happen because they did not self impose their bowl ban until the season was almost over and they had no chance to go to a major bowl.  If they would have done it at the beginning of the year then that would be different but they did it after realizing they couldnt win the ACC.  So I think that the NCAA should overlook the fact that they self imposed a bowl ban the past 2 years.

rkylet83's picture

I actually thought they had already dropped this.
Repeat offender + 72 player receiving illegal benefits + School Receiving Funds From A Ponzi Scheme + Paying Prostitutes For Players + Whatever The Hell Else (I got tired of reading it all) = 2 extra years probation, and a two scholarships for next year and pay back to Ponzi money.

stittracer99's picture

The NCAA is going to announce that they have modified the BCS standings and has placed Miami in front of Ohio State, citing a tougher SOV (strength of violations).

Knarcisi's picture

ESPN will be running campaigns to give our 2002 national championship to an SEC team since our opponent was ineligible.

I figured they'd just decided we'd all forgotten about The U's transgressions and the NCAA debacle of an investigation.

Just another reason to delay any sort of investigation of Slick Nick and the Crimson Tide program.

Yepp.  I just figured Miami got away with a slap on the wrist.  Every sports news agency completely dropped this story from their rundowns and thus, I forgot this had happened.

BUCK-I-FAN's picture

yeah, well it wouldn't have been in the news today. but I heard the head guy at the NCAA was cleaning off his desk and found the Miami folder and said oh shit i guess we can file this now.

Probation, noting how they have already endured a punishment and "bowl ban"

"They don't know what they don't know." - Coach Mick

FitzBuck's picture

Ummmmmmmmmm.
i could see this going one of two ways
1. They give them additional punishment and look like huge hypocrites given what has happened over the last 24 months.
2. They will give them nothing making the NCAA the most biased organization in the history of sports and opening the door for all programs to fight harsh punishment.
Regardless the NCAA loses.

Who even cares at this point.
Its going to be ridiculous either way.
Hopefully, its just one step closer to a full on mutiny against the good ole Enn Cee Double Ay.

gobucks96's picture

Is anyone left at the program from this debacle???

balbak buck's picture

Well Miami has Donna SHilila, who was the health Secretary a while back, and now the president of UM,so she can pull some strings and get UM free of anything. We on the other hand have Gene Smith and Co. so we can't get away with anything.I love Democracy.

I predict sanctions to mirror USC. Remember basketball was involved too like USC. That spells LOIC.

Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

ClevelandFan82's picture

Other side to that, though, is that USC got those sanctions when the NCAA didn't look like a COMPLETE joke. I just don't see the NCAA stepping down hard, with the lack of power they now have. Image really is EVERYTHING.

The NCAA will disagree with their bowl ban. Therefore, they will get to play in two bowl games this year!

Guys I hate to break the news to you, but this has gone on in Miami since the days of schnellenberger and company......  When I was flying commercial, I used to pick up kids @ small county airports in a fully stocked Cessna 421 and deliver them to KMIA (Miami International).... this by itself was illegal.....but that is what I was paid to do...... and I too have pics...  Kodachrome  ya can't photoshop that crap..........  Had a good time going to school there, but that was where it stopped.......  I used my G.I. Bill to pay for mine.  Seems to me the rest of Florida got theirs for free...  From SCHULTZ     I KNOW NOOOTHHHINNNGGG !!!
