Parris Campbell is a three-star athlete from Akron who's pledged to Ohio State's 2014 class. Today, The Cleveland Plain Dealer took a closer look at him, his career and his relationship with his mom, Shelly Woodruff, who he says "is everything to him."

From the article:

Campbell has wanted to play for Ohio State since he was a child.

His biggest breakout came in December in the Division III state championship game against Bellevue in Canton. With Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer on the sidelines, Campbell rushed for 168 yards on 14 carries and scored three touchdowns in the Irish win. It capped a 1,353-yard and 28-TD season.

The state title performance helped lead to a scholarship offer from Meyer, which Campbell accepted in February.

Here's a dosage of what Buckeye fans can expect from Parris:

Young man appears to be a serious homerun hitter. Would really like to see him returning kicks in a year or two.

Paris should be getting that 4th star from Rivals any day now. Electric player, with a solid support system. Sky is the limit for Mr. Campbell.

From the picture he does not look like he is 12.

From my understanding, Paris is 16. He skipped a grade, and is really young for being a senior. That makes his accomplishments on the football field, and in track, even more impressive. I know he's run sub 11 second 100 meters consistently. Really excited to see him in S & G.

Humble, focused, determined...couldn't ask for more. Enjoy your senior season, Parris.

Looking forward to seeing him don the Scarlet and Gray soon.  Electric player.  Should flourish in Urban's offensive attack.

Very nice story. Shame to hear of the diagnosis of Lupus for his mom. My own mother fought that for many years...I'll be eagerly waiting to see what this young man can do once at Ohio State. Good luck Parris - Go Bucks!

Everyone who calls our guys "thugs" or whatever else needs to watch this video. I know it's only a four minute clip, but you can tell he's a really good kid with a good head on his shoulders. No question in my mind he's gonna be great both on and off the field.
