Sports Illustrated Falls for Nick Saban-to-Texas Satire

As Texas was in the process of suffering the worst defeat-on-the-ground since the Germans blitzkrieged Poland in 1939, Troll Kingpin Paul Finebaum sent out the following tweet:

See what he did there? Nick Saban and the Tide will be in College Station, TEXAS, on Friday in the lead-up to their game against Texas A&M on Saturday. Sports Illustrated didn't get it, and they've since deleted the story. Paul Finebaum was last seen leaving the corner store after purchasing two White Owl cigarillos while cackling like a rabid jackal.

Here's a bag of suckers for your major fail, Tim Polzer.

5-star journalism right there.

If it weren't about the SEC, ESPN would bump it down to 4-star.

Finebaum, Tennessee alum.  Hard to tell that Alabama and Tennessee are supposed to hate each other.  The fact that he is a regular on ESPN now is not going to help their reputation north of the Mason Dixon Line.

Wait a minute. What is the problem here? The ability to be able to distinguish a joke or play on words from reality is essential? Or necessary? Boy am I confused now. Enough of this new journalism, back to my National Enquirer for some real truth.

I do want some pudding now for some reason...

Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.

Tim Polzer writes the darndest things...

“Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.”

This just further proves how unreliable and unprofessional close to all forms of sports journalism are nowadays. SI, you are stupid.

There's a Northwestern joke in there somewhere.

Nice. Right in the eye. That's gonna leave a bruise, Hovenaut!

This story just proves that whoever is working on the SI page doesn't pay attention to sports.  There's a zero percent chance that a guy who just won 3 of 4 national titles at his school is going to show up and interview for a new job in the middle of the season before the other coach was even fired.

A friend of mine who is a huge Texas fan is convinced that Saban will be taking over for Mack Brown and if Saban doesn't take the job Fedora will be the next coach.  He claims to have inside sources....don't we all.  This conversation was two weeks ago so it had nothing to do with this story.
This weekend I sent him a text about the Greg Robinson hire.  He was pleased with it because Robinson will have "better athletes at Texas than he had at scUM" For the sake of our friendship I didn't text back.

I can see them hiring Chad Morris after this season. Doubt Bear Saban leaves Alabama unless Texas is paying 10 million a year.

OSU069's picture

That would be an outstanding hire for them but he gets like 1.5 mil at Clemson and says he feels comfortable and doesn't want to leave. 6 million a year could change that though....

George Dohrmann article coming soon. Texas has much looser raffle-rigging rules than Alabama.

Doesn't make sense right before the biggest game of the year for Alabama. Most likely a contract ploy..

When I walked in this morning and saw the flag was at half mast I thought, "Alright, another bureaucrat ate it." but then I saw it was Li'l Sebastian. Half mast is too high. Show some damn respect.

SI still prints magazines?  They'd be better off publishing a swimsuit edition every week.

The S.I. report photo makes Saban appear taller than he actually is.
