True freshman Eli Apple defends Mike Thomas during Ohio State's spring game

Ohio State finally updated its roster this afternoon. Admittedly, changes in the official roster will largely reflect the ongoing discipline issues, but, on a happier note, we finally have some team photos, bios, and jersey numbers for the new faces to the program.

Here are the jersey numbers for the members of the 2013 recruiting class.

Ohio State's new punter, Cameron Johnston, will wear #95.

Dontre Wilson is listed as a wide receiver. Ezekiel Elliott is listed as a running back. Gareon Conley is given as a cornerback. Darron Lee is the only new player listed as just an "athlete".

A few other changes were discerned, even though these were common knowledge. Namely, Evan Spencer will wear #6 this year and Devin Smith will wear #9 (his old number from high school). Ron Tanner is now #20.

Wondering why no 7 for Bell?

Rare&Uncommon

Like the ball in the stands, we balls out

Maybe the staff pulled it back because if possible off the field issues? I was really looking forward to him wearing it

Don't spew stupidity. Do you have anything to back that up?  No.

I said "maybe" and the fact that he reportedly got an underage isn't good. Just trying to offer an option as to why his number changed from one worn by all time greats to won that's a little less significant in OSU history.
Or maybe he likes 6 better than 7? But that would be spewing stupidity as well since I have nothing to back that claim up either.

edit to both comments: looks like there is no off the field stuff with Vonn Bell. No disrespect intended towards Bell. Thankfully this rumor turned out to be false. Looks like he just does like 6 better than 7!

Evan Lisle you have some big shoes to fill with that number

Indeed.

Trey Johnson has a number with some history to it as well.

I am not very smart, but I recognize that I am not very smart.

Trey seems like a guy who is up to the challenge though.

I see Wilson listed as a running back.

Honest to goodness, Ohio State's athletic department changed that after this post was published. Kind of funny, actually.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing.

Dread's picture

Probably changed while removing Tim Gardner.

So I take it the Jordan Hall / Rod Smith number switch didn't happen. Also, I think Spencer actually switched to #6 sometime last season. I thought I remember seeing a #6 at WR and wondering who it was and then noticing it was Spencer.

Gotta get myself a Joey Bosa Jersey.

Look closely, because the closer you think you are, the less you will actually see.
