Andrew Wiggins to Kansas

By Kyle Rowland on May 14, 2013 at 12:25p

Andrew Wiggins, the nation's No. 1 basketball recruit in the class of 2013 and arguably the top high school player since LeBron James, has announced he'll attend the University of Kansas.

Despite its lack of basketball tradition, Florida State was thought to be the front runner because they've recruited Wiggins the longest and the coaching staff developed a strong rapport with the Canadian phenom. Wiggins' parents are also Florida State alums.

Overlooked was the fact that his brother will be a senior at Wichita State next season. Wiggins instantly becomes the top player in Lawrence, and if all goes according to plan, he'll be the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Yay Canada!  Boo Kansas!
Seriously though, this kid looks unbelievable, I am sooo grateful he didn't go to Kentucky.

Happy it's not to Coach Cal & UK, but I think there was just some news about KU being in trouble with the NCAA for possible agent-to-player cash.
Go Bucks

I'm just happy to be here

Well, I guess Kansas fans can go back to not caring about their football team now.

That has never changed.

Also happy it is not Kentucky, because that would be ridiculous.  Kansas lost a lot, so it makes sense since he will get a chance to play and be the man from the get-go at a blue blood place like Kansas.
I'm also happy the OSU-Kansas home and home series is over...

Is Urban allowed to be a Recruiting Coordinator for Matta's squad?...

Don't text while driving.

I say, always look on the bright side of life.  At least Ohio State doesn't have to build Battle School for Ender, I mean, Andrew.

Soon, everyone will get this joke. That's why upvote now before it's trendy/lame.

Was "The rich get richer" going to be the subtitle as long as he didn't choose FSU?

Very exciting news for KU.  Even with as many unbelievable recruits/talents that have come through Lawrence this is a big deal for Kansas.  Pretty giddy folks around me today in KC.

And they should be that way.  This kid's talent is unmistakable.  Many are calling him the best high school prospect since Lebron James, and if you watch him at all you can see why.  He's very smooth and skilled already at such a young age.
On another note, I probably haven't seen enough yet to be able to say this definitively, but I'm not that impressed with Jabari Parker.  Before Wiggins moved up a class, many were saying the same things about Parker as they are now saying about Wiggins.  When I've seen Parker, he just hasn't done too much that dazzles, so I don't get the insanely high praise.  He'll be at Duke, though, so the praise will continue.  I'll be interested to see how he performs under the national college basketball microscope next year.
