Mike Conley Had a Good Night

April 2, 2013 at 11:08a    by Jason Priestas

Mike Conley dropped 23 points on the Spurs last night, but none prettier than the final two. With the score tied at 90 and 6.2 showing on the clock, Conley took the inbound, drove San Antonio's Danny Green to the basket and scored the winner on the highest of bank-floaters.

The layup paired well with the three Conley hit seconds earlier and Memphis now has a team record 12-game home winning streak.

Conley was so fun to watch at Ohio State.  It is really nice seeing him have some success in the pros. Brought up some memories of this play against Wisconsin.

Ever since the Grizzlies were roundly criticized for signing him to that huge contract extension a couple of years ago, Mike Conley has consistently stepped his game up. It's been an absolute blast to watch.

He's the best NBA product Matta has produced, with David West being a close second.

Remember when we had point guards that could shoot and make jumpshots?
That was awesome (c) Chris Farley
(I still love Craft though)

Yea.  I wish we had a point guard that could make a game winning three with 0.5 left on the clock in an NCAA tournament game.

2/12 vs Wichita State.
They dared him to make a jump shot.

I know.  I'm being sarcastic there because it's amazing how quickly the tides changed.  Also keep in mind that Wichita State dared OUR ENTIRE TEAM to make a jump shot and as a TEAM we shot 31%, a terrible outing for a TEAM.
Actually, our biggest problem in that game was that we took their dare.  We should have just worked harder for better shots.

My bad. My sarcasm meter is off.
I agree though. We settled for way too many jump shots. I dont know why our guys were so scared of Hall. He played well defensively but there was no reason for Deshaun and co. to be pulling 3's with 29 seconds left on the shot clock.
Sometimes I wonder how much difference JD Weatherspoon would have made in our rebounding efforts...
If I analyze that game any further I'm going to make myself nauseous....
