I think the guy to watch after this game isn't Gibson, Timmons or Bell.....I think it's Saban. If Bama ends up destroying ND (which it looks to be headed that way) will Saban finally feel bored with college football? I think that will shape the landscape of these last few weeks of recruiting. Yes, the Big Ten does need to try harder with its coaching hires (with the exception of Ohio St and Urban Meyer). But "SEC dominance" is a bit of a misperception. Mississippi St is not a good football team just because Alabama kicked the crap out of Notre Dame. Grantland had a pretty good article about that this fall. The whole SEC hasn't dominated college football. Urban Meyer, Les Miles, and Nick Saban have. Urban is in the Big Ten now. Now we just need the rest of the conference to follow suit and hire big time coaches instead of shooting for moderate success on a budget.

Feel bad for my buddy at work, he's a huge ND fan and took his dad to the game. Suprisingly hes very level headed about college football and never trash talks OSU so I definitely feel for him watching this. We lost a chaotic game at Nebraska when Denard was injured and the coaches failed to have a Plan B.
And we were outplayed in Columbus by a very good Ohio State team.
But nobody -- nobody -- put the hurt on us like Bama.
We lost 41-14. I am hoping Bama beats Notre Dame 41-0. It might be worse than that.

Absolutely. Agreed. Setting aside Alabama; Ohio State could be the best team we faced. Although nobody had a player like Clowney. Taylor Lewan did well to minimize Clowney as much as he did.
I am not ashamed to admit I am glad we are not playing Bama right now.
I completely disagree about not wanting to play this Alabama team. We would have loved to be playing in a bowl game this year, even if it was against Alabama. Our team consistently found ways to overcome each obstacle in front of us.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to be in the NCG, but not to lose to another SEC team. I know it is better to have loved and lost, but....
of course we would love to have played in a bowl game this year. But, yeah, we could not legitimately compete with this bama team. It would have been worse for us than not playing. Now, I recionize and respect that many in our fan base would not have cared getting obliterated in a title game again, but some of us (me included) prefer to get there when we have an actual chance to compete. I'm happy we are not playing bama this year. next year and the years after, with Meyer, let's have at it. Just not this year.
Notre Dame struggled to beat 2 of the same teams we did and blasted Michigan State who we struggled against. Now, I know the D came around SOME in the 2nd half, but I wouldn't like our D's chances against this Bama O-Line. We may put up a better fight simply because of how good Braxton is, but Urban didn't have the talent or speed in the trenches to hang with Bama this year. I would like our chances next year and probably around 2014 where our skill players will be elite and we'll have so many nasty defensive players flying around, but 2012 Buckeyes woudln't beat this Bama group. Notre Dame isn't that much different than Ohio State. They may not have been as good as us offensively, but they were superior on D this season.
I don't think we, Ohio State, had the depth that Bama has either....yet. It seemed like we were one good injured player away from losing a game this year. Would Bama have had to move a full back to the starting MLB position? Doubt it.
That depth is coming though, with Urban's excellent recruiting.

Georgia isn't bad either. It really doesn't matter though, if you get an undergrad degree at UK or Ohio State you have about the same chance of getting a job. I know people who went to great schools who weren't able to get jobs with their degrees and people who went to NKU that are making a really nice living right now.
I would say that Kentucky is honestly not that bad of a school either.

Yep. ND was by far the least-scary team that beat us this year. We beat ourselves that night. Six turnovers and it was 13-6 at the end.
Oregon would have been a better game. And no doubt that OSU could roll ND in a bowl game.
I will stay with my Oregon and Alabama 1 and 2 in my fan poll. Some of the things that were wrong in October were USC and Wisconsin, for me anyway.

I have to say I love the infighting between the douchebags of alabama. Contrasts greatly with the 'family' atmosphere at OSU. Take note vonn bell and ask yourself which team you will really feel a brotherhood with.

Hard to argue that Bama could be in the middle of the Dynasty not the end, but how much longer will Saban be this effective? He's 61 now, and I just can't imagine he'll have the same edge for much longer. At some point he's just going to lose that edge. Is it next season, 2 years? Hard to say really. I don't know that he'll get to the Bear Bryant 6 titles.
I dunno, Paterno did mighty well after age 61, albeit in a figurehead role much of that time. Bowden had his best seasons in his sixties. It's a matter of how long he wants to keep doing it, really.

Exactly. Urban is quite young at 48. Forty-freaking-eight and he has two titles to Saban's four at 61.
I wonder how LSU fans feel about Bama's success with their former coach? Because it's the eSEC, i think they still love him.
