I don't understand why Millen is given so much respect from ESPN. "Millen's Key's to victory"? Like he knows what it takes to win. Didn't he used to coach the friggin Lionz(The one's in Detroit)?
"Here officer, hold my beer while I find my license."
Big 10 is down there is no disputing that but "embarrassment"? The only embarrassment is Purdue! Every team was and underdog and the teams that lost were in the games until the end. Don't forget also that the best team in the conference stayed home for the bowl season.
Who's the color guy? He's easily the worst commentator I've ever heard. I heard him do another bowl game last week. My God, he has absolutely no idea the rules of this sport.
Millen is trying to explain how that is not pass interference. He has lost his mind since being sucked into the Detroit Lions black hole of incompetence!
Lynch just needs to go Superman and get something going. This D is clearly outmatched and is doing everything in its power to prevent FSU from running all over them.
"There is a force that makes us all brothers, no one goes his way alone." --Woody Hayes
Okay - I'm confused. If there is a rule that says you can't launch yourself over the punt shield, and that is what the player did - how is that not a penalty?
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
So now Millen is trying to explain that the hands to the face (should have been a penalty) that took off the NIU defensive end's helmet is a "good little battle". Moron!
Jesus - either the offensive coordinator or Lynch is an idiot... But go ahead, keep calling that same play - perhaps you may get a yard after about the 20th time
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
*Sigh* And I'm sad to say that the dream is over. Good try Huskies, but you were hopelessly overmatched even before the game began. Best of luck in the upcoming years...
"There is a force that makes us all brothers, no one goes his way alone." --Woody Hayes
NIU playing very scared. Almost as if this were on NCAA 13 online mode. You play with NIU, the other guy plays as FSU. You try and run and get nothing so you have to take chances down field and may be land a couple of those but your offense basically consists of occaisionally lucky plays over the top and a few short yardage runs. Defensively, just preventing quick scoring. NIU hasnt really tried to punch FSU in the mouth. It may be because they feel they lack the talent and they do, but at the same time its D1-A football and what separates a 3* talent from a 5* talent is more attitude than talent...would love to see NIU's defense try and play with some swagger.
Unfortunately that's just not how this whole thing works. The playoff should all but eliminate mid-majors teams from getting into these bowls by putting the top 2 teams back into the system.
In fact, now that I think about it, I think they're getting rid of the BCS qualification system altogether (requiring these participating bowls to have to take a highly ranked mid major under certain circumstances), and I think they're giving bowls free discretion to invite who they want.
Comments
I have a feeling NIU is about to get one royal ass kicking!
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
Yup. I have no doubt about that.
Really? Will NIU get an ass kicking worse worse than Wisconsin? Worse the Nebraska? Worse than Purdue? Worse than Michelin?
I'm not saying that NIU is going to win, but I think they'll hang with FSU for a while. There was a time when people asked "Boise State? WTF?"
"Here officer, hold my beer while I find my license."
Yes worse than those games.
Matt Millen calling the game. Is there a wide receiver he is scouting?
Should be over by the end of the first quarter
No matter how you slice it, NIU is out of their league. Can't see them playing out of their minds but I guess you never know.
Dave doern is there to support the team from the stands. I like that, seems classy.
FSU all jacked up.
I don't understand why Millen is given so much respect from ESPN. "Millen's Key's to victory"? Like he knows what it takes to win. Didn't he used to coach the friggin Lionz(The one's in Detroit)?
"Here officer, hold my beer while I find my license."
Millen do all he can to keep the match up interesting to the audience....lol.
FSU turnover. Go NIU!
Fumble! NIU has it!
"Here officer, hold my beer while I find my license."
Oleary with the fumble. Didn't we recruit him?
he was not a fan of Ohio football.
http://espn.go.com/high-school/story/_/id/5549802/nick-oleary-suspended-2-games/
Yes, he is the grandson of jack Nicklaus.
gave the finger to the Ohio Stadium crowd when St.Aq. played at Ohio Stadium in the herby classic or whatever
Not sure about that. He played for Dwyer in west palm beach.
He did it vs Glenville with grandad in attendance. He also did it in Florida.
"Don't put syrup on shit, and tell me it's pancakes"
No matter how sh*tty the tour is, it's always tough to leave.
Well I hope he fumbles again.
me too.
Me three. Clearly growing up in SEC country sapped whatever class his uncle's bloodline imparted him.

like NIU to compete, think deer-in-head lights comes to play early in the 3rd...
QB punt? That's it, I'm all in on NIU. That was awesome.
"I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying." -Woody Hayes
Ugh. I don't know. This is a physical mismatched. C'mon NIU.
ACC speed
First FSU TD of many I'm afraid. FSU has them beat badly on all levels.
Uh oh - FSU is going to put up a ton of points tonight! They are 5 yards off every receiver and they are getting blown off the line.
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
NIU needs to put some pressure on FSU's QB. Florida State will win if it remains a WR route running drill.
One of FSU's slowest guy out ran NIU's entire defense.
Oh wide open miss!
NIU fake. At least they are pulling out all the stops!
How many times are they going to call a QB draw for no yards before they realize it isn't going to work
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
Soooo... running up the middle, not working. Is Bollman calling plays for them?
"I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying." -Woody Hayes
They need to score TD every chance. FG's aren't going to work.
PI anyone?
We really should consider leaving the B1G, it is a freaking embarrassment. 2-6 in bowl games this year if you count Rutgers.
Florida State is 1-5 in BCS Games, maybe they should give up football.
I wouldn't oppose that, considering I really dislike them. ;-)
ha. I wouldn't mind it either.

Worse than David Pollack doing a Georgia game?
You mean Matt Millen?
He's about as good at commentating as he is running a football team.
Yes, definitely Matt Millen. What a dipsh*t.
Millen is a PSU homer, he played for them and is always anti OSU whenever he does an OSU game. But you are accurate, he is a true dip$hit...
Wtf? Where's the flag?
"I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying." -Woody Hayes
Crazy. That was PI by definiton!
Right? NIU has a big enough challenge without taking on the refs too.
"I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying." -Woody Hayes
Terrible no call
on the board baby! M! A! C! M! A! C!
"...but then again 'Michigan' and 'huge mistake' are synonymous so that shouldn't have been much of a surprise to anybody." - Mark Titus
Blatant defensive pass interference there.
Great! The refs are going to call it for FSU. Just what the Huskies needed. Interfere much?? Plus, the call is right in your face. Come on ref.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
I heard that. Almost as bad as michigan's phantom first down.
onside kick it
Millen is trying to explain how that is not pass interference. He has lost his mind since being sucked into the Detroit Lions black hole of incompetence!
I'm pretty sure he had a lot to do with expanding that black hole of incompetence I grew up rooting for.
"...but then again 'Michigan' and 'huge mistake' are synonymous so that shouldn't have been much of a surprise to anybody." - Mark Titus
Lol! He at least doubled it no question!
Can NIU score here to make it interesting?
run something underneath
feel like this is just delaying the inevitable blowout... NIU hasnt really had any bit of momentum outside of that fake punt
Lynch just needs to go Superman and get something going. This D is clearly outmatched and is doing everything in its power to prevent FSU from running all over them.
"There is a force that makes us all brothers, no one goes his way alone." --Woody Hayes
*Sigh*
Looks like it's gonna be a long, hard, struggle for the Huskies tonight.
"There is a force that makes us all brothers, no one goes his way alone." --Woody Hayes
Doesn't look like FSU is really taking advantage...yet.
Their offense is DOA - it can't even get a yard right now...
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
FSU can just dink for 5 or 6 yards all night long. The best thing going for the Huskies is that there's only 9:36 left in the half.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
Better step up UNI, this ain't the MAC...
Replay?
Okay - I'm confused. If there is a rule that says you can't launch yourself over the punt shield, and that is what the player did - how is that not a penalty?

Par for the course with today's refereeing. Awful. Simply awful.

So now Millen is trying to explain that the hands to the face (should have been a penalty) that took off the NIU defensive end's helmet is a "good little battle". Moron!
These officials are BAD!
Makeup call!
I am pretty sure McMillian only stops talking for commercials.
Jesus - either the offensive coordinator or Lynch is an idiot... But go ahead, keep calling that same play - perhaps you may get a yard after about the 20th time

I'm not sure what options they have.
An outside run perhaps? The zone read? Triple option? short dig or slant over the middle?
"There is a force that makes us all brothers, no one goes his way alone." --Woody Hayes
When the Oline is getting destroyed a draw or up the middle run isn't going to do much.
*Sigh* And I'm sad to say that the dream is over. Good try Huskies, but you were hopelessly overmatched even before the game began. Best of luck in the upcoming years...

If FSU scores, I'm going to have to turn the TV over. Even the wife can recognize a blow out in the making.

There you go!! Nice to see NIU had a few more plays in the book than the QB draw
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
I was ready to go to bed and NIU decides to make it a game. Ah well, coffee can make up for lack of sleep :)

Come on Huskies, your still in this one. Isn't there any thing left in the playbook?

OH $HIT!!!!! INTERCEPTION!!NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! The wife has the TV remote. "How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days". REALLY????
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
You would think it was 45-10 the way they're calling this game.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Well I think the game is now officially done! They put up a good fight but they are getting tired and dominated.
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
that was a bullshit call on the fumble...if there was ever indisputable evidence, there it was!
Yea, I thought his entire shin was down before the ball started to come out.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
This is a terrible matchup. Should have paired up K-State with NIU, and FSU with Oregon.

Beth is no Pam Ward. I used to love her dull ass voice overshadowed by Spielman ripping some kids ass for not wrapping up.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
Lol. That's some funny stuff right there. +1
Cleveland should pick up Matt Millen so he can draft some receivers.

Do you even lift, Northern Illinois?
