Amir will make his 1st career start today. Good move by Thad. Both he and Ross need minutes to improve and treating them differently - ie quick hook - made little sense through the first 11 games.
So happy that Amir is starting. If anything he gives us a better defensive presence in the paint.

Agreed. Plus, we already know Rav's ceiling. We don't know Amir's because he hasn't gotten enough minutes to get fully comfortable.
I hope we can rebound from the Kansas game and not have another Winthrop-like game.
Can't imagine it's not a blowout today. Winthrop would probably smoke Chicago St. Plus the squad is coming off a loss. I don't think focus/intensity will be a problem.
I've been impressed with Thompson this year. I'd like to see him be more aggressive scoring-wise in this game.

I see Scottie Pippen's nephew plays for Chicago State. And he can shoot the 3 ball.
I think Thad would be better off subbing Scott for Craft instead of Lenzelle. Craft has done nothing when on floor wit Scott.

They don't seem to compliment each other that well in the backcourt. Side-note: Chicago State is making some ridiculous shots. Well defended long threes and bank in 17 foot jumpers. I expect the hot hand to cool down soon.

Cmon, there's no way you can be pleased with the way this team has played the last couple of weeks.
True. But this is college basketball and the tourney is in March. If they don't get better by then, than I will eat some crow. I think is team is at least a sweet 16 team when it's all said and done.

Thing is, I don't think it's a talent issue, except maybe down low. I'm not going to bag on Matta too bad considering what he's done here, but I think we should probably be a little more competent by now. Just a bit farther along as far as gelling into roles. The staff has not done a good job this year assembling a functional team from the pieces.
I know Thad hangs his hat (and doles out pt) based on defense, but sometimes you wonder if they work on offense in practice.
I swear we miss every open shot we get, and that really hurts us.

Well it's nice to see OSU struggles shooting against good and bad opponents. OSU is an equal opportunity weak shooting team.
Buckeyes showing decent ball movement against Chicago State zone defense but have missed 7 of 8 wide open looks from downtown so far.
I think we can all agree that the Buckeyes need to work on shooting. Good news is all basketball player like working on shooting, and the results can be immediate.

Yeah. It's brick city with this team lately.
Buckeyes on a 10-2 run now. What a great pass from Thomas to Rav for the dunk. That's the 2nd great feed so far from Tank.
Looks like Rav plans on earning his starting job back.
Need to take it inside more and not settle for 3's. When they take it to the hoop they've done well so far.
I agree though most of the 3 looks have been wide open.

Buckeyes trailed 10-12 but closed the half on a 27-12 run to lead 37-24 at the break. Both Smith and Thomas are shooting 5/8. DT has 12 pts, Lenzelle has 11.
Buckeyes lead 18-9 on the glass and turned it over just 3 times.
BUckeyes outscored Chicago St 24-4 in the paint.
Why can't we score OR defend under the basket out of bounds plays? Makes me wish for some Jim O'Brien plays.

I'm kind of afraid for the B1G schedule. Ok, really afraid. This team just CAN NOT SCORE for huge stretches, even against awful teams.

I'm realy frustrated with the way Amir is playing under the basket, he needs to be more physical and have better control of the ball.

Rewind to the first half against Duke. This team played well, despite terrible shooting all game. Give the team a chance before you write them off in conference play.

Man there are a bunch of negative nancies on this board. We shot 57% from the floor, 47% from three, had 20 assists on 33 made FGs, had 44 rebounds to their 18, and won by 43 freaking points. The only thing one could complain about is 10 turnovers. It's freaking December people, you have to remember that college basketball is nothing like college football...
