Buckeyes Blow By UNC-Asheville

By Chris Lauderback on December 15, 2012 at 2:24p

The Buckeyes again put four in double figures led by 18 from Sam Thompson and 17 points, 10 rebounds from Deshaun Thomas in a 90-72 win over the Bulldogs.

Ohio State shot a blistering 59% from the floor and assisted on 25 of 36 buckets thanks largely to another stellar effort from Shannon Scott.

The sophomore dished out nine dimes and picked six pockets in 21 minutes of action.

Evan Ravenel was solid with 12 points in the first half to go along with seven boards and Lenzelle Smith Jr. hit 7/10 from the field on the way to 16 points.

LaQuinton Ross hit a speed bump today. He scored eight points on 4/10 but coughed it up six times in 23 minutes while Aaron Craft added six points and eight assists.

The win improves the Buckeyes to 8-1 on the season.

Bruce Hornsby's son Keith, a sophomore guard, poured in 26 points for the Bulldogs on 9/12 from the floor.

not as worried about Ross' turnover because three of them were horrible calls and one more was questionable

Agreed though he still didn't seem as mentally into it today.

I think he  always looks lacadaisical. I think thats part of the reason Thad hasnt warmed up to him faster. He doesnt seem to play with much intensity but is probably the most skilled guy on the team.

Just received word that Scott's six steals were good enough for fourth all-time at Ohio State for steals in a game.

Even in December, I really didn't expect to see the words "the Buckeyes were led in scoring by Sam Thompson" at any point this season.

Sam Thompson should be allowed to win the NBA slam dunk competition this year.

Is it this teams thing to come out of halftime flat?  Seems like trend. Otherwise, very encouraging game.
